後醍醐天皇が隠岐に配流された際、滞在したと言われている場所の一つ。もう一つは西ノ島の黒木御所ですが、どちらが本当の行在所跡かは諸説あってまだ定説が定まっていないと聞きました。
こちらの行在所跡は隠岐国分寺境内にありますが、石碑が立っているだけなのでちょっと肩透かしな感じでした。

隠岐国分寺の中にあり、写真にある記念碑があるのみ。解説には後醍醐天皇が帝位と帝都の奪回を図られた聖跡との記述がありました。
隠岐に流刑になったのは後鳥羽上皇だけではなかったのですね。
私の時も敷地内は無料開放されていました。

隠岐国分寺の境内に、礎石が残っています。隠岐国分寺の山門を入って正面に大きな石碑が建っていて、礎石を見ることができます。昭和12年文部省の、ここが後醍醐天皇の行在所である旨の案内板が建っています。

後醍醐天皇行在所跡は、隠岐国分寺の境内が国の史跡に指定されていますが、島前の西の島町別府にある「黒木御所跡」という説もあるそうです。本堂の裏手に旧本堂跡に礎石が数個あるのと石碑が立っているだけです。その背後の森の中に後醍醐天皇を祀る王城招魂神社があります。

元弘2年元弘の変に敗れた後醍醐天皇が、隠岐国分寺を行在所としたといわれているが、島前の西ノ島町の黒木御所も知られることから、どちらが真の行在所跡かは定かではないらしい。此処を訪れた後に、島前西ノ島町の黒木御所も訪れたが、隠岐国分寺にあるこの遺跡も十分感慨深い。

隠岐国分寺内にある。柵で囲った中に礎石と思しき石が点在するだけで、資料館も併設されていない。よほどの歴史好きでないと感動はない。西ノ島にある県指定の黒木御所趾の方は碧風館と言う資料館も併設されており、レクチャーを受けることができるので信ぴょう性が高い。

天皇が配流されたりの歴史のある隠岐諸島。やはり、観光の目玉でしょうか。博物館や資料館は気づかなかったのか、見当たらなく、もう少し詳しく知りたく思う。

島流しにあった後醍醐天皇ゆかりの名所が多い、隠岐ですが、こちらもその１つ。モーモードームの隣にある国分寺の中にあります。たまたま、私が行った時は入館料不要でご自由にとのことで、無料で見学できました。

隠岐国分寺の中にあります。
国分寺の入山料は400円。
門を入ると、正面に行在所が見えます。
モーモードームのとなりなので、牛突きを見物された時に、併せて観光されることをお勧めします。
