It's such a beautiful and serene place. Ama Cho is a bucket list must for anyone who's into beautiful and tranquil places.

We rented bikes from the tourist information and cycled via Oki shrine to Akiya coast and returned sticking to the coast. The roads are quiet and safe and swing through rice terraces and quaint little villages. Some bits are quite hilly and we walked these sections. When you get back to the port, return the bikes and then go to Radice-a lovely cafe on the main road near the Lafcadio Hearn statue. Best coffee around and fresh bread and cakes. Open 1:30-3:30. YUM!

Great place for a picnic. We cycled from the port to the coast. Lots of uphill but worth the effort. We came in Seotember and the weather was still quite warm.

If you are travelling in Oki-islands and visit Nakanoshima, it's worth seeing but don't bother go all way to the island just for this. I was thinking of swimming in there, but there is no beach, only rocks. I was dissapointed :(

In summer you can swim and camp here. It is also a good spot for fishing (many small fish hide under the rocks). There are many interesting plants growing along the coastline. I recommend a walk along the coast, and look carefully at the black and red rocks. Make sure you walk to the end of the track where you can see the "heart in the rock". This is a popular spot for ladies to visit - the power spot of Ama Town!

I went here in the summer. I tried snorkelling with my friends - we saw lots of fish and even a stingray! There is a nice place to camp or have a picnic. There are showers and toilets free of charge. I like walking along the rocky coast and taking photos of the "heart rock".
