木星の縞模様がはっきり見えました

日原天文台のとなりにあるペンション北斗星に宿泊していた私たちは、ペンションのオーナーさんとの話から、夕食後に、ここで天体観測をすることにしました。
夕食を終え、あたりが暗くなったころ、ペンションのとなりにある「星と森の科学館」に行って手続きをします。すると、天文台に案内されて天体観測が始まりました。
初めに見たのは、この夜一番明るく輝いていた木星です。望遠鏡をのぞくと、縞模様までよく見えました。途中、もう１組がやってきましたが、それまでの時間は私たちの貸し切り状態だったので、「○○が見てみたい」という私たちのリクエストにも応えてくれましたよ。

本州で一番星が見えやすい空なんだそうです

　津和野観光を終えたこの日の私たちの宿は、津和野町の役場がある日原地区から車で１０分ほど上った山頂に建つ、ペンション北斗星でした。そのペンションのすぐ横にあったのが、日原天文台です。ここは、「本州で一番星が見えやすい空」に認定されているそうです。
　ペンションでの夕食を終えた私たちは、せっかくの機会ですから、天体観測に出かけることにしました。まず、ペンションのそばにある「星と森の科学館」に行って、天体観測のチケット５００円也を買います。私たちがこの日の最初の客だったようで、学芸員さん（？）の後について天文台へと向かいました。
　日原天文台の望遠鏡は、口径７５ｃｍの反射望遠鏡。たくさんの星や星団、青雲など、１時間以上にわたって見せていただきましたが、この日の星空のメインは、木星でした。木星の縞模様まで見えて感激でした。

ペンションもある展望台

津和野と益田市の真ん中あたりにある展望台です。展望台の麓にはペンションもあり夏などには特におすすめです。
天文台は国道9号線を途中から山道に入ってくねくね行くので乗り物酔いをしやすいお子さんは要注意です。思った以上に星が大きく見え、またこの辺りはもともと空気がきれいで明かりも少ないのでとてもよく星が見えます。

素晴らしい星空

旧日原町にある天文台です。山の上にありますので、行くには車が便利です。施設は、宿泊可能なペンションやお土産屋さん、天文を学べるブースなどがあります。昼間でも望遠鏡を覗くことができ、太陽の表面を観察することが出来ました。夜は言うまでもなく、田舎ならではの落ち着いた雰囲気に、満天の星空が広がります。萩・石見空港から車で1時間かからないくらいで、近くには山陰の小京都である津和野もあるので近くに来られた際はぜひお寄りください。

山奥にある天文台

訪問した前夜に　流星を寝ながら見るというイベントで100人以上の訪問があったと聞きました。
我々が訪問したときは　暑い昼間で
太陽なら見えますということで　雲で見え隠れする中　焦点を合わせていただきましたし　説明もしていただきました。
今年は　いろんな惑星が見える当たり年ということでした。
天文台にあがる道は　3キロの山道。対向車がこないことを祈って　車を走らせました。小さなお子さん是非連れて行っていただきたところです。

日原天文台は、宿泊客も食事の前後にみられる天文台です。島根県内でも天文台は珍しく、天気が良ければ、沢山のきれいな星が見られます。

プライベート星空観測

津和野中心部から車で３０分程度かかる山の中の天文台。
津和野から夜の山道ドライブは大変でしたが、私とパートナー以外には参加者がおらず、係の方が巨大な天体望遠鏡を操作して、ほぼすべての惑星を個別に見せてくれました。
土星のわっか、木星の衛星など初めて見たものが多くあり、感動しました。
