The Hanakairo flower park is actually located closer to Yonago, which is the second biggest city of Tottori prefecture. It is located in a perfectly beautiful spot from where you can clearly see the Mountain Daisen. Any season is ok to visit. We've been there in spring, almost end of May and middle of February. Of course in May we could enjoy more as you can walk around the park without getting a cold ;) Winter in Yonago is cold and has lots of snow. But even thought there is a dome where they keep the tropical flowers and it is wonderful. People can enjoy the beautiful combination of colors and flowers, and take lots of picture. There is also very tasty ice cream with taste of blueberry and nashi (pear) both fruits grown up in Tottori prefecture!!!Just delicious!
there is also a train making a tour around the park. It was fun! You can even see a small forest with very tall trees, a small museum with the representative vegetation of mountain Daisen, some sections of the park with european theme. You can even buy flowers to take back home!
In total it was reaaaaally fun!
Now that is the hanabi (fireworks) season all over Japan they also have some special events in the park.
Although we visited during day time both times, everyone says that at night is also beautiful as they have nice illumination.

We were expecting a nice flower park and were instead overwhelmed by this huge, amazing complex of gardens, two domed-areas, forest, water, and beautiful pathway areas. We could have used 2-3 hours to thoroughly visit. Of course there were flowers everywhere, in planters and hanging baskets on pathways, in the domes and other buildings, and seasonal ones growing in the ground. In addition, the layout of the park is well-done. A main covered wooden walkway circles the central area, with the Main Dome in the center and a Jungle Dome on the South side, and other buildings on the East and North sides of this circle (the Entrance building is at the West side). A pterodactyl topiary and stick dinosaur appear near the Entrance and visiting the Jungle Dome sure makes you feel like being in Jurassic Park.

I've been to Hanakairo many times, and I enjoyed each visit. My most recent visit was last February 28. Most flowers were not blooming yet, so I would suggest that you visit the flower park around April, which is springtime and the best season to enjoy seeing beautiful and colorful flowers. There were a lot of orchids inside the main dome, though, which was one of my favorite spots in Hanakairo. People could walk on a covered walkway with these vibrant and exquisite orchids hovering above their heads. It was magical! Another favorite spot is where you could see a view of Mt. Daisen from afar. You could take a photo at this particular spot by sitting on one of the benches with the majestic mountain, the Mt. Fuji of San'in region, in the background, and canola flowers that exude profusely their yellow color in the foreground. It was also a good chance to have photos with beautiful plum trees in the background. It was a nice prelude to Spring's cherry blossoms, because the pink blossoms were identical to the famous sakura. There were hundreds of different species of flora displayed in the elevated walkway. If you can read Japanese, you would enjoy knowing how each flower/plant was uniquely named after their features i.e. tiger's eyes, sunset, etc.

A wonderful place. I spent a good few hours here. They have a free shuttle from Yonago train station to the park which is very convenient.
Lots of places to explore and see different flowers. They have a restaurant and food shops in the main centre of the park.
You can also ride a bus/train around the park for a fee.

It was my second time to visit this kinda of park in the the evening. The first one was Huis Ten Bosch at Nagasaki.
We took the free shuttle bus outside Yonago Station. It was a small bus, easy to recognize. Earlier we got the information about the bus schedule from Kurayoshi tourism centre.
The ticket cost 350 yens for tourists by showing passport, entering at 1730hrs. It was a Saturday, again drizzling, pretty cold.
There was some mobile food stores near the entrance. Most of the dishes cost 500 yens each (got to purchase coupons). Personally, I felt the food cheaper than the restaurant.
Music, lightings attract me alots. That were my purpose..purely to enjoy the lightings. If you were to ask about to see flowers at that kinda timing. Not much to see. The Park wasn't too big.
Fireworks was a surprise to us. Personally we felt not much of tourists on that evening but more of their local.
The shuttle bus going back to Yonago Station was bigger. Outside the entrance, there are some photo spots.

Thank you very much for visiting us.
I am glad that you enjoyed illumination and fireworks.
It is not as big a park as Huis Ten Bosch, but it is a beautiful flower park throughout the four seasons.
We are waiting for your next visit.

Visited here in April as an excursion from the Princess Spring Flowers Cruise. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom along with tulips and many other gorgeous flowers. Their orchids were stunning as well. The backdrop of Mt. Daisen added to the experience.

The visit was suggested by the nice lady in the Tourist Information office in Yonago Station. I owe her big time.
Reading previous reviews I've learned that this flower garden is highly regarded throughout Japan. And so it should. It is one beautiful flower garden.
There is a free shuttle from and to Yonago bus station (adjacent to Yonago train station), and I was given a 50% discount for merely showing my passport.
The garden is a photographer's delight, with colors, colors and colors. There is the central dome, the 1 km covered circumference observation gallery, and many paths that can take the visitor to many unexpected sites.
I was shocked when I looked at my watch and realized my visit was only an hour long. But I was alone which by definition makes for a shorter visit. I believe that my time doubled or tripled should be adequate for most visitors.
And so if you are in the area (for instance visiting the Adachi Museum of Art), you would do well to include Tottori Flower Park in your itinerary.

Such a beautiful flower park. Went when the cherry blossoms bloom. Tons of other flowers, and they were arranged very nicely. Is a paradise for gardeners, and photo takers. Wish there was more time to slowly enjoy and savoy! Will go back again.

At Tottori Hanakairo Flower Park you can enjoy the combination of the park's lovely variety of flowers and the contemporary architectural designs of its greenhouses and walkways. We especially enjoyed walking through the futuristic flower dome! I think it's a place you can go to every month and enjoy a new theme of flowers with an ever-changing backdrop of Mt. Daisen! I really look forward to going again in April to see the cherry blossoms!

In the greenhouse, I didn`t feel the snow and the wind outside. The fragrance is fresh, surrounded by colorful flowers and plants, feeling very happy. I stopped to appreciate the many varieties I have not seen before. We also found some flowers that do not need soil to grow. In the garden, there is a perfect place to take a picture with the Daisen, come here and do not miss the picture with the Daisen.

Hi Staff of Tottori Hanakairo Flower Park,
We are a group of 8 adults arriving on a Japan cruise on Monday, 21st October 2024 at Sakaiminato Cruise Pier. Need answers to a few questions to help us plan for our day trip.
1. Is there Taxi or Uber service from Sakaiminato Cruise Pier to Tottori Flower Park?
2. Can we also get Taxi or Uber from Tottori Flower Park to Sakaiminato Cruise Pier?
3. How long do we need to spend at the Flower Park to enjoy the place?
4. Are there restaurants in the Flower Park?
Thanks & regards.

We are also visiting this area from a cruise ship in April, and this park sounds just what we would like to see. Any advice as to getting there by public transport will be appreciated.

Hello,
Does anyone know which bus number and where to catch it to the Tottori flower park from the Sakaiminato cruise port terminal?
We will arrive the Sakaiminato port on a cruise ship in April 2017 and really want to visit this park by ourselves since the ship charges a very high price for the excursion to the park.
Thank you very much for your time.
