Beautiful picturesque town
Nov 2020
A very beautiful little town tucked away in the middle of the mountains, yet somehow has a ton of great food (restaurants, coffeeshops, sake). Very cute rustic town that looks like it's straight out of a fairytale.

A small, beautiful town with tourist spots that are worth seeing! The town has good restaurants, bakery, and this cute link station that is worth the gram. The town will be best traveled by car to enjoy the countryside view.

A Warm Town Enveloped in Culture
Oct 2020 • Couples
This warm town was welcoming and very true to the Japanese culture. Everywhere we went we were greeted with smiles and asked to come again. There was a lot of beautiful architecture and neat places to visit.

Explore a beautiful rustic town!
Oct 2020
Chizu is full of rural, mountain views and locations Beautiful streams and forests are everywhere you go, and the restaurants and locations are very friendly to outsiders visiting. It is a good idea to bring or secure personal transportation, as public transit may be difficult to find. Our experience was totally enjoyable, and on more than one occasion people went out of their way to be inviting and personable when we stopped in.

Traditional Town you can experience many things!
Oct 2020 • Couples
Chizushuku(智頭宿) was old post town for Sankin-kōtai(参勤交代) in Edo period.
Walking around this town, You can see old houses and feel traditional atmosphere.
Most of all, There is must-visit place which is called Ishitani Residence.
It is built by Ishitani-san, Who is a rich man in this area. He reformed this house made from the Edo period.
inside house, There is a spacious courtyard garden. You can feel cozy when you sit down the courtyard
and look at the garden. especially I liked the cent of Silver osmanthus.
Please feel the refreshing fragrance emitted by Silver osmanthus.
Around the Ishitani Residence, There is a Suwa Shrine.
It is a hidden place in Autumn season. You can enjoy foliage when you go there in fall.
After visiting Shrine, There is an Italian restaurant nearby.
You can enjoy cafe or having meals. I was impressed by Interior.
It is made by Old and abandoned things.
The Owner reborn it into art.
It will be fun to find what was made from.

It is a place that needs to be moved by car, but if you visit Tottori, consider this place as well.

※ Travel Itinerary that I visited is as below.
Sansai Cuisine Mitaki-en → Talmary → Ishitani Residence → Chizu-shuku → Koiyama Station → Tanoshi Restaurant.
