Kishu Experience! Overnight stay at Kisho with Koyasan tour and Kishu peninsula!

The Nanki/Kishu area is a beautiful area, not too widely toured by foreign visitors. With the itinerary and the scenic drive, it is a combination that is quite unforgettable. The itinerary can be adjusted as necessary and stops requested along the way. Please feel free to request any changes at any time.

Nice spot to soak your feet and hands and watch the world go by. Thermal waters are straight from the ground and super sulphurous smelling but nice enough. As both of us have a lot of tattoos we are unable to visit Onsen. Here we could at least enjoy some nice waters, soak our feet and not offend the prudish folk too much!

This is hot spring water and is actually located out the front of JR Kii-Katsuura train station. There are vending machines nearby that serve hot meals as well as a wide variety of drinks. There are seats so you can actually sit down on the bench and relax even if you are not using the foot baths. It is also the main departure point and return point for the bus that goes to Nachi Falls.

After a lot of walkong I was happy to see it. Anywhere else in the world I would not dream of it, but Japans stress on hygiene and cleanliness but me at ease. It's right next to the beach too. Don't forget a little towel for your feet!

Much to our amazement, the Kiosk right behind the foot bath, was closed at 7:30 in the morning when we tried to get snacks for our bus trip to Daimonzaka. We walked over to the gift shop to pick up something to snack on just in case and then needed a place to sit and wait until Kiosk opened, we hoped, at 8:00. The clean and vacant foot bath was in a perfect location for us to wait. We did not want to get involved in a foot bath with so little time before the bus arrived (8:25) and besides it was a chilly morning and we weren’t eager to remove our shoes. One of the long wooden benches on the outer side of the water trough can be used to sit facing out away from the water. The other bench has no place for your feet other than in the water. The bench was comfortable, clean, and in the right place at the right time. Had the weather been milder, had we had more time and more inclination, we might have actually taken a foot bath!

One of several free, spotlessly clean public foot baths in the town. The one next to the station is lukewarm and right at the bottom of the exit steps. If you have a few minutes layover between busses and trains and the weather is pleasant then rather walk 300 meters down to the harbour where there is a larger one with a view and warmer water, otherwise this one is a nice place to rest aching tourist feet.
