We go there in summer if we go in spring or Autumn the sun will fall in the hole according to the description in the signage. Easily accessible if you are driving

Nice view but a bit hard to reach. I have to transit in one of the station to reach there from my hotel

Even under gray skies at sunset, this natural arch rock formation is a lovely sight. It makes a nice destination for a walk from the hotel.

This rock formation is the symbol of Shirahama and we spotted it all over Wakayama Prefecture. There are boat trips that sail around it. Otherwise, we enjoyed a picnic at the shore and soaking our feet in the nearby free public foot onsen!

I didn't go during sunset but the morning. It was slippery while walking toward the sea during low tide. You better wear suitable shoes with it.

A unique 20 minutes watching the sun go down and eventually catching it through the hole in the rocks. Not something that I thought can be done but if you stand in the right direction, some nice photos can be taken.

It's a beautiful place to look at and take photos of anytime during the day. It's not necessary to take a boat out to have a closer look at it,
