Historic & Relaxed
Apr 2021 • Couples
The historic wooden boat houses/funayas are amazing to view from Ine bay via tour boat! Also, @ the information center in town, a 2000 yen deposit allows you to rent a bike to easily ride the street & venture out ... once done riding, your 2000 yen is returned. Our lodging was located across from the fish market. On Sunday, our lodging host joined us @ 0600 to watch the fishing boats unload their catches of the day & she gave us a tour. Having no nightlife there was ok with us. No convenience stores or grocery stores close by so we planned ahead & brought our food to cook. Not many restaurants were open due to COVID but we made the best of it. Truly a gorgeous area to explore! Low key & great for relaxing.

Well mannered birds

It’s a short 20 mins boat ride round the bay to see the old houses that still line it, with a few fishing areas. Before you board, one could purchase a small pack of Calbee Prawn Crackers for seagull-feeding on board. Someone on the same ride bought 2 packets and we ended up being escorted by seagulls and eagles the whole journey.

Maybe because it’s Japan, even the wildlife are more tame and courteous. Despite the food being there, they seem to just hover patiently to be fed and flies off once they get one so that the others get a chance too. Didn’t see any attacks at all.

Peaceful at heart
Oct 2019 • Friends
Ine no funaya holds a special place in my heart. The kindness of the local people really make me want to stay here longer. I wish I can buy a small plot of land and build a small house here. I wish people will never know about this place so that it will never be too crowded with tourists. I don't want to write a review either but I need to keep track of the many places I have been in my life.

Please visit there with boat.

This historical place was saved by natural disaster because of special location, north part is mountain and south part has Ao-shima. No other place has the kind of house which has a house for fishing boat to park directly from ocean. That is why so many TV documentary and movie used this place, such as Tsuribaka diary and Tora-San movie. We took boat from Ina to look around all area. Cost about 1,000JPY for one adult, but it was very reasonable. Driver explained so many details of this area. You can ride charter boat from Amanohashidate area, too. We went there by taxi and then got boat. Please enjoy interesting location. You may want to have your house, if you like ocean side.

A place where you can not find the convenient stores!!

I thought when you travel to a new place, you will feel unease, but lack of familiarity it is. When we arrive here around 6 pm that day after a 5 hours drive from KIX, almost every shops were closed and only 1 restaurant and 1 bar are still open for business. Luckily enough, we made the reservation in advance and had a really fresh seafood dinner. It is highly recommended that you shall do some shopping before entering Ine-no. This is the first time I am so glad to see a vending machine on the road back to homestay. It is a completely different story in the early morning, warm sun shine and nice weather to walk around all the shops are preparing to open for the tourists to come, but you can sit along the sea with a cup of Macha without any hassles. Probably, I will come back for winter next time.

A beautiful, unique and tranquil place!

Traditional fisherman village, charming & unique with a wonderful scenery. The Japanese wooden boat houses along the bay with lovely local people surrounded by stunning nature. There are bicycle for the visitors to do sightseeing around the village (free of charge).

A simple peaceful life, very best retreat or even just a short break from the chaos city life. This place is really good for your soul. If you love the tranquility, simple local life, nature, greenery mountain, sea breeze, or even fresh Japanese seafood, this is highly recommended.

I do love this place!

Traditional Japanese Fishing Village
Apr 2019 • Friends
My friend and I both enjoyed our time in Ine. If you want to avoid the crowd and still experience the traditional Japanese village, this is definitely the place. Also, it's more relaxing looking at the sea or taking a boat trip. We traveled from Osaka by bus which took us around 4 hours. Hence, I suggest to visit by car. I recommend to stay at the boathouse Maruichi. It's spacious and has lovely deco. The owner Kana was very friendly and helpful.

Interesting enough even on a bad weather day

It was poring with rain as we took the bay cruise trip followed by the more detailed walk around the town. But, even the poor weather could not detract from the curiosity of the place.

A short trip visited after Amanohashidate. Ine village is a very quiet place for a walk around, we were there just great weather and can take beautiful pictures.
There is a tourist information center first floor and the second floor is a restaurant. Ine cafe is one of a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the beach view where the unique spot for sunset 🎴, however the price of foods us expensive if comparing to Amanohashidate town 😔

A boat tour is a great option to explore more in Ine and can go to see the very near boat dock with the friendly boat driver he explains about the history 👍

Transportation: public transportation is very limited it schedule only one-time an hour, so, please be prepared not to miss.

Overall we were enjoyed our trip and looking to visit again if we have a chance👍

Nice and peaceful, but not much to see
Nov 2018 • Family
Ine was a nice and quiet place to walk around. We went there on a Sunday. Most shops appeared to be closed. We saw only a handful of local people during our 45 minute walk. Most local people were fishing and enjoying the peaceful environment.

There was a sightseeing cruise operating in Inewan Meguri-Hide. On the day we went, there were 7 coaches of tourists (Japanese and foreigners) !!! Most people on the cruise were too busy feeding the birds rather than enjoying the peaceful environment or looking at the boat houses. Fortunately most of them did not walk to Ine.

When close to Ine, the sea view seen from the bus was beautiful.
