Passed though on 1st March 2020, sadly, due to the warm winter, all the Sakura trees had already turned green. Don’t visit in 2020 if you’re coming for Sakura viewing.

I came a little bit late for the cherry blossoms (25/2). Many of the petals had already fallen... but still, I enjoyed the walk. The cherry blossoms are breathtaking. The nanohana, and the orange and lemon trees made good accompanies with the sakura. I had to stop every few steps to take pictures of them because they are so beautiful! There were also food stalls and souvenir shops that sold cherry-blossom-related food and goods. Since oranges and lemons are in the season, some shops sold them in packs too. When I felt tired walking, there are free onsen for my feet to rest and rejuvenate. I really enjoyed the hanami. Kawazu is a lovely and quiet town near the coast with good hot springs. If time allowed, I would have spent a night there to see the light-up of the cherry blossom trees along the river, and hike a bit to see the waterfalls in the morning.

Visited this amazing site in late February. Love that the cherry blossoms are sticking out into the river and it mixes with the red or white trains to make an amazing scene. Great food and worth for Instagram. Recommend the cherry blossom ice cream, cherry blossom alcohol, Kawazu’s special cherry blossom cakes, the pink taiyaki and much more. Must visit in Ito!

It take 2.30 hours JR ride from Tokyo. I use JR wide pass which cost 10k Yen. I think the Sakura festival worth the JR ride and the JR cost!! I have seen Sakura un Tokyo, but I think it is not as stunning as seeing it here. I spent 4 hours just walking along the river to see Sakura, and I wish I had more time!!! Because I only covered half of it. If I have a chance, I will go back to visit kawazu Sakura festival again!!
