This part of Japan is not often visited by Westerners, but it has some of the most spectacular scenery, especially during cherry blossom season and many interesting things to see and do. Some examples are the festivals, the snow corridor, the snow monkeys etc.

At Murodo near the top (2450 m asl), there is still lots of snow in late May. You will be snowshoeing then. The snow usually melts in mid July up there. But for lower elevations under 1,000 m asl, the snow should have melted... More
