Both of me and my wife were not able to visit Mikurigaike Pond as we both were not well equipped during our visit last May. Yes, we thought the weather was cold so that we wore sweaters and jackets but we didn't expect that the...More

A bit of a walk out from Murodo Station, but totally worth it if its a good day. but it can be VERY windy and become cloudy/rainy very quickly.

I planned to do the 2 hour circuit at the peak of the alpen route but when we got to the top most of the walks were closed due to volcanic gases which you could certainly smell while you were up there. There wasn't really...More

Part of Mundoro sort walking distance from the Mudoro station. There is a loop around the lake for good scenic view. Proper shoes and warm gear necessary as it can get pretty cold around Murodo. Visited in Autumn Oct 2016

When we walked to the Japanese guest house, we saw this pond. Although it was covered by snow, it was beautiful! We could see the water was blue. We also saw thunder bird nearby. What a surprise!

Beautiful lake by the Murodo stop. You can see images of the mountains on the lake which makes a nice photo shoot. Remember to wear layers and be adequately dressed as it will be cold at Murodo and at the lake.
