Well worth the short walk when at the Murodo stop. We visited this as part of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route which also involves lots of other stops including the Kurobe Dam. There was still quite a lot of snow here in late May and we made our way around the pond and completed a short 'hike'/walk which took no... More

When we walked to the Japanese guest house, we saw this pond. Although it was covered by snow, it was beautiful! We could see the water was blue. We also saw thunder bird nearby. What a surprise!

I was there in 2nd week of May. I was very happy to see snow wall and tateyama mountain with some snow on top. But please don't expect to see reflected-mountain in the pond. All were with with snow on top. Should you wish to see the pond, you better come around summer.

Timing with snow will prefect the view. We saw little snow in Nov, but the walk is not easy ie not flat walking roads leading to the pond. But it's still windy and cold as its near to the alps height. The location need time ( a few hours) to travel from Tateyama. So be prepared, to spend some time... More

Beautiful lake by the Murodo stop. You can see images of the mountains on the lake which makes a nice photo shoot. Remember to wear layers and be adequately dressed as it will be cold at Murodo and at the lake.

The trail around this pond is great during the fall season. It was a dream taking pictures around the pond.

Suitable for A light hiking/trekking course when you visit Tateyama-Kurobe Alpen Route. There are well-made pedestrian walkway good for half an hour or one hour walking. You can also enjoy onsen while you make a walk.

Mikurigaike is located at 2405m high in Murodou/Tateyama of Toyama prefecture. It is remote place but easily accessible by public transportation. The pond is just 15 minutes walk from bus terminal and the walking pass is well maintained. The contrast of colors such as blue, green, white was so beautiful that I couldn't stop taking many pictures.
