Shomyo Falls situated in Tateyama, Toyama Prefecture, is considered the tallest waterfall in Japan by the period of running water and is one of the significant attractions of Tateyama Kuorbe Alpine Route. Shomyo Falls can be accessed by Tateyama’s sightseeing bus at outside of Toyama...More
Highly recommend to visit Shomya falls though not included in the Aloine route ticket, It is the highest waterfall inthe Japan . To visit one can take bus from tateyama station and the some walk to the sight of fall. Loved this place
Somewhat easy walk from the Shomyo-daki bus stop. Even though the website says that it will take 30 mins (one way from bus stop, I assume), it didn't take us that long. Must visit if you are around Tateyama. Can see Shomyo falls (Japan's highest...More
You park the car and walk up the road. We were pushing our luck since it was due to get dark and drizzling, but we did it and hurried back :). I got my atmospheric photos bit like a Japanese water colour.
We first caught a glimpse of Shomyo Waterfalls when the tour bus was travelling from Tateyama to Murodo.

It's about a 1/2 mile walk from memory on a hard-core track. On Google Maps you park your car at Smomyodaki Parking Lot and walk on. Their map shows the road going on, it doesn't, you walk from there or the eatery but then you would be leaving your car parked in their car park. It's an easy enough walk for the abled bodied. There are a couple of high viewing spots or you keep down the bottom of the falls. Probably an hour round trip from the car park with viewing.
