My partner and I stopped by to collect roadside station stamps. This was the first roadside station we visited.
This roadside station has a wide selection of fresh local produce and wines imported directly from Italy, which is Kanra Town's sister city.
The restaurant has a corner for authentic stone-baked local flour pizza, with tables and chairs.
Although I was tempted by the stone-baked pizza, I went ahead and entered a soba restaurant.
The set meal at this soba restaurant is the specialty "Momotaro rice" made with local pheasant meat and glutinous millet.
The noodles and soba are made by Tomita Seimen, a noodle factory in Kanra Obata, a castle town in Gunma Prefecture, which was founded 75 years ago.
Water and tea are self-service inside the restaurant. There are also hand towels here (I thought they wouldn't provide hand towels, but they were here).
I ordered the hometown set meal and the kitsune soba.
What surprised me was that the people eating soba (set meal) at the soba restaurant were also eating pizza. I'm not sure what the system is that allows you to order both, but my wife said that the pizza came out of a soba restaurant's kitchen(?).
The soba was chewy and delicious.
My wife said the udon was also good.
The house of the Matsui family, who served as local headman during the Edo period, has been relocated to the roadside station grounds, and we were able to see inside.
It was a very unique roadside station.

At the roadside station Kanra, the mascot Kanra-chan will greet you. You can shop for agricultural specialties, souvenirs, and meals. They also sell Italian wine and olive oil imported directly from their sister city in Italy, and other items that can only be found here. It is also close to the three major parks: Mentai Park, Konnyaku Park, and Wild Kingdom Gunma Safari Park. You can also see the Matsui family residence from the Edo period for free. It is also nice to stroll around the Oda family Obata samurai residence and the atmosphere of the Edo period. The Kanra Town History and Folklore Museum is nearby, so you can deepen your knowledge.

Our very first night/trip on a campervan. So were having lots of question about sleeping in a carpark in japan. Well, first, we arrive in the road station after sundown, so was not about to see clearly what we drive by. The toilet is kept cleaned, no insects crawling around. No proper bathing facility but we make do with the handicapped toilet. The roadstation is also quite full as the restaurant at the road station was still opened. There were pizzas sellings and some one had a small pool for children to fish stuffs out of it.
