Went to the waterfall early in the morning, taking the train from Mito to Fukuroda and reaching Fukuroda Station at 8.45am. The first bus haven't started running yet and there were no taxis to be seen. The only way to the waterfall was a 45...More

It was the best time of fall colors when I visited there. There were a lot of people even it was on weekday. It is not free to see waterfalls. After you purchase a ticke, you will walk through tunnels to see waterfalls. There were...More

The falls are pretty when the leaves are changing, but it's a little overrated compared to photos I see. Maybe the pictures are from a few years ago, but there was not a lot of water. Go early, because it got really crowded.

Was quite surprised by the Fukuroda falls. Much more impressive than one could think from the pictures, especially from the main platform accessible by tunnel which sits just near the bottom, the sound is pretty powerful. The upper platform accessible by lift is a nice...More

I visited this waterfall on the recommendation of friends, I am definitely glad I did. Nice to get out of the city and take the small walk, as well as taking in the views of the waterfall. Definitely depends on time of year as it...More

My friend sent me here to see Fukuroda Falls, which is beautiful. There's a covered pavilion where you can sit and contemplate the falls. People were painting, photographing, and generally enjoying life while taking in the falls, which was also beautiful. While I'd anticipated a...More

We spent a day at Fukuroda Falls, walking the trails, going over the tension bridge and enjoyed being in touch with nature. After we'd made our way to the top, via the elevator located inside the tunnels, we enjoyed the views and looked out from...More

We visited at night as it's got a special light-up from Dec 28 to Jan 1, in addition to its regular light up in Fall. It's nice though a bit adventurous for us as we hadn't visited it during daytime. We visited it again the...More

(Nov2016) The actual waterfall is OK. Sufficient volume of water falling to be pleasing to look at. We went there in late autumn to try to see autumn colours (red leaf), but turns out this is not really a good place to see large expanses...More

Take a train to Mito and change there for a local train to Fukuroda. That's about three hours.
