It's our second time here. We regretted that we have not enjoyed this place sufficiently on the first occasion. The family run stall near the Southern entrance sold all kinds of seafood for sashami. The owner (gentleman) speak some English and can make us some sashami at the spot. Our favourites included crabs (2000-10000 yen depending on size), sea urchin (500 yen per urchin or 4000 yen a pack) and sliced whelk (only 600 yen a pack). We tried various kind of crabs and size. The urchin is the freshest that you can every find. Sliced whelk is crispy. Ask, they may have other sashami to offer. Very inexpensive.

It has a wide range of seafoods for sale for omiyage (souvnir) from the local waters. Venders are busy offering samples to convince you to make up your minds quickly.

Because this is a Roadside Station, it does have an information desk, but it's almost hidden with busy commercial activities.

It also has a mandatory restaurant with a good range of local seafoods, but since it was also very busy and crowded, we opted to go somewhere else for our lunch.

One serious problem at this Roadside Station is that it is way too busy with too many tourists.

There's not a lot to do in Rausu and this is one stop most visitors will probably stop by. You can buy fresh seafood from here and bring them to the restaurant or eat the raw stuff on the spot. There's lots of dried goods which are produced in Rausu which you can bring home for yourself or as gifts.

The tourist information centre offered usual information for sightseeing within the Rausu area. There is a little super market selling local produces like seaweed. A restaurant offering local delicacies and you may have lunch there, too.

Wifi is available within the tourist information centre.

Great place to stop by to obtain some information, bathroom break, grab some drinks from the vending machine etc. Since Rausu is quite small, this is a welcoming place to pick up souvenirs or just to grab some food to go.

As others have written, there isn't a lot in Rausu. Most come for the whale watching.
Apart from the usual "omiage" (souvenirs/gifts) there is some fresh seafood for sale and the menu boards for the restaurant make the food look quite appetizing. My wife and I didn't eat though since we were still full from our hotel breakfast buffet. The tourist info area is small but sufficient, and there is a board showing dates and what was seen (if anything) on the daily boat cruises (space availability on the boats is also shown). We did avail ourselves of the toilets since there are few and far between.
