最果て感満載。灯台の裏にお地蔵さん？

野付半島の車で行ける最先端？と思えるところからさらに徒歩で行くとポツンとあるといった感じです。ここで３６０℃見渡すと、ちょっと感動します。荒涼とした最果て感満載です。灯台の裏の海側には、海難防止のためにかお地蔵さん？が海に向かって佇んでおられます。

野付半島/北海道別海町【後編】トドワラ〜野付埼灯台

野付半島（のつけはんとう）は、北海道野付郡別海町野付（ ほっかいどうのつけぐんべつかいちょうのつけ）にある半島だ。延長26kmにわたる日本最大の砂嘴（さし）で、ラムサール条約に登録されている。

2022年6月30日、この日は野付半島ネイチャーセンターを見学した。
歩いて行くと25分、トラクターバスだと7分。凄い景色だ。ハマナスが咲いていた。遊歩道はきれいに整備されている。「野付」の名は、アイヌ語の「ノッケウ」（下顎）に由来する。砂州の形状をクジラの下顎になぞらえて付けられたものと考えられている。センダイハギというマメ科の花が咲いていた。トラクターバスが走ってきた。毛虫発見。数多くの花々が見られる事から、通称『フラワーロード』とも呼ばれる。知床連山は冠雪している。

トドワラ広場に到着。トドワラは砂嘴の上に生えたトドマツが、海水に浸食され立ち枯れている。別海十景になっているそうだ。トイレがあってビックリ。ここから木道が続く。小舟で何か獲っている。桟橋は通行止め。凄いしか言っていないおじい。ここには36年前にも来ているはずだが、こんな体験をした記憶はない。2005年に国指定野付半島・野付湾鳥獣保護区に指定され、ラムサール条約登録湿地に登録された。トドワラ展望台に到着。ビジターセンターまで戻ってきた。片道だけトラクターバスに乗る、というのもいいかもしれない。

車で先に進んだ。道道950号線始点に到着。一般車両は、ここまでしか行くことができない。野付埼灯台まで歩いて行くことにした。野付埼灯台に到着。芸術作品のようだ（笑）県展の前に二科展があるので、ドキドキだ。鹿の群れを発見。車で先に進んだ。

半島の先端ではないのだ！

半島の道路をとにかく進んでいくと、こじんまりとした灯台が立っていました。特に目立つものが無い半島に、しっかり立っているのですが、半島の先端ではないのです。半島として、一番外海に出っ張った地点に、建てたのかも知れません。

ススキの向こう

道道950で野付半島へ入り、ナラワラを過ぎ、ネイチャーセンターを過ぎ、広々とした風景の中、砂洲の道を進む。すると白い野付灯台が現われ、ススキの原ごしに見るその勇姿が素敵だった。なお、そこには広い駐車場があってその先はクサリで閉鎖され一般車両は入れない。

小さいけど、国後島にも光が届く灯台

ナラワラから、更に車を進め、「野付半島ネイチャーセンター」に到着しました。
が、9:00開館のところ、想定外に早くつきすぎたたため、時間をつぶせる場所をセンターの脇にある案内板(地図)で探します。ここから、もうちょっと奥へと進んだ龍神崎というところに灯台があるので行ってみます。センターから、車を走らせること5分、道道950号線(野付風蓮公園線)の終点となり、その横に駐車場があります。
駐車場(無料)に車を停めて、ここからは徒歩です。10分程、未舗装の道を歩くと、あっ、ありました。非常に小さな灯台が。灯台は無人のようで、人の気配はしません。後でセンターでこの灯台のことを調べたら、国後島との最狭部16kmに対向した灯台のため、国後島にも光が届くらしいです。また、この灯台の前に草原は「野付風蓮道立自然公園」となっているようですが、緑色の何かの草がぼうぼうと生えてるだけでした。まぁ、あえてこの灯台を見るためにここに来る必要はないかと思いますが、時間が余ったら、見に来てもいいかなって感じでした。

野付半島の一番奥にひっそりと佇んでいます！

野付半島を車でネイチャーセンターを超えて、どんどん奥に進みます。車で行ける所まで行くと、その先に灯台が見えてきます。灯台までは徒歩でないと進む事は出来ませんので、一見の価値はあります。

台風の影響で，午前９時には根室が厳しい状態になる前に、午前４時根室を出発した。午前５時３０分。灯台の明かりはまだ灯っていた。

２月から３月になると北方の野鳥の越冬が観察できるいい場所でした。遮るものがないので、防寒はしっかりしたものが必要でした。

野付半島の尖端、国後島に一番近い位置にある灯台。この灯台の前に立っていると、とても日本にいるとは思えなくなる。本当に何もない所。

車両通行止めになっていて、近くの駐車場が終点です。
遠くに見る灯台も風情があります。
