I love Yomitan Pottery village. But then, I love bowls so it may not be to everyone's taste. There are many potters and many shops here and at least two rising wood-fired kilns (which I would love to see in action). A first visit might...More

When I read about this I thought it was just the one establishment called Yomitan Pottery Village because it's a warehouse + retail hahaha so now I have been there, I know what it is; its really is a village with quite a few pottery...More

I like ceramics, and there are some beautiful examples on sale here, but the market is a bit overwhelming and prices are not much different than in town. Not the easiest place to reach.

Interesting to see the potters and glass workers at work. Good for an hour or so, but probably not the place for young children.

A lot of the pottery looked the same from shop to shop as noted by other reviewers. However, there were a handful with unique work that I ended up buying for gifts (all closer to the parking except one that is hidden off the road)....More

This place is great for walking around and seeing the process for making pottery. However, there is a lot of walking with little excitement to keep kids entertained, plus kids and pottery is the equivalent of a bull in a china shop.

This is where I'm buying my ryukyu glass. We watched the team of glass makers hand blow like a well oiled machine, not speaking. It was fascinating. My boys ages 7 and under loved it. The pottery is largely the same style from shop to...More
