Still retaining a lot of the charm of an older Japanese village, the ‘modernisation’ of Nozawaonsen continues with a new high end accommodation called Residence Yasushi. Awesome rooms and great service made the stay there wonderful. We got some skiing in, and even went to...More

Amazing experience! Awesome long runs. Very good snow! Small lift lines. Great food on the mountain! Well priced ski tickets and large choice of runs. Suitable for families. Shuttle back and forth. Great ski destination!

Awesome powder. Infrastructure just fine. Fantastic on mountain food. Extremely polite fellow skiers. Smokers locked up in glassed off rooms. Spotlessly clean. The actual village is a cultural experience in and of itself. The numerous hot springs are amazing and just what one needs after...More

This was our third trip to Nozawa Onsen and it has become more westernized but in my opinion it still retains the charm of an old traditional village with traditional values. There are now fewer restaurants with low tables without chairs, and there are more...More

Hey Melissa there is plenty of snow though softening during the warmer days. Nozowa Onsen is a unique town above the snow line. In Japan there is nothing quite like it. Yes I would go.

nozawa onsen ski resort and alternative (5 Replies)
Hi. The weather been very disappointing this ski season. Planning to go during Christmas. Anyone had experience at the period, the ski resort is closed? Is there other nearby ski resort which we can go for a day, considering we cannot cancel our accommodation. Thanks.
