I took my 2 sons for skiing in Japan and Goryu resort was perfect. Is larger than other ski resorts I visited in the past. The gondola takes you to the top of the mountain where is possible to enjoy a less crowed skiing experience....More

There are some great runs here. It isnt a large ski area, but has excellent runs. It is best when the link to Hakuba 47 is open, as this then opens up many more runs and options. They sometimes close the link between the two...More

It's good to get away from Happo Goryu is best up high especially if the only way down is the trail. It's easy to connect to 47 and their is plenty to do up high the coffee and hot chocolate are good at top of...More

Bus ride always a pain, but worth it. Good range of beginner runs. Good range of eating options as well

Combined ticket with Goryu, iimori and 47 makes skiing the whole mountain a breeze. Good variety, cafes and restaurants. Gondolas good, chairlifts a little slow but overall very good.

despite poor snow in mid January the skiing on Gory was still OK compared with Happo which was bare on the lower runs.

While the snow was good on the upper reaches, there was green grass on the lower runs. Luckily travelled with my 2 kids who had their first time skiing and the 3 days on mountain more than maxed out what was available.

I'm a beginner to snowboarding but I had a good time at Goryu. The pass gives you access to both Goryu and the other mountain Hakuba 47. Not too crowded.

What is there for non-skiers to do in the area? We are going in March, but my wife doesn't want to ski

In the immediate area Hakuba Goyru there is a temple and trail to walk. Ease of this will be determined by how much snow remains. Hakuba Happo is main area a short shuttle bus away. There are a number of Onsen's to visit... More

How far is it from Hakuba 47 to Goryu and Happoone? Can you ski between them or how long does the shuttle bus take? Looking for a base for 2 weeks for a group of 8 including 3 intermediate-advanced skiiers and boarders, with 3 expert boarders, and 2 weaker skiiers. (previously skiied Canada, Italy, Japan, NZ). Main priority is the skiing/boarding so efficient lift systems and great long runs. Don't want to spend lots of time on a bus. Would we be better having a week at Goryu then a week at Happoone? Also we need to self cater (due to gluten allergy). Are there any supermarkets in any of these resorts? Thankyou for any comments.

47 and Goryu are effectively the same resort, you can't ski from either to Happo One - q10 minute free shuttle. The best place to base yourself is definately Happo. Easy to get to all resorts rom there and HappoOne is... More
