Cannot recommend enough
Mar 2020 • Couples
This was my first time snowboarding and some of the mountains had closed early because of COVID19 and the season not having too much snow, which we thought we might get. However, Goryu did not disappoint. Enough powder and snow to learn on, great for beginners and there were heaps of snow schools around to teach you if you needed it.

We stayed at gondola apartments so it is a fair way away, but escal plaza has heaps in it to eat and drink and is worth the little drive

Nice place to ski
Feb 2020 • Family
This is a good place for beginners and good skiers alike. The slopes are varied enough for everyone to have fun, and most of them are quite wide.
Lunch options are reasonably priced and there is a wide variety of places to choose from.
If you’re looking for off piste or back country skiing however, head to Hokkaido.

Fun mountain, good for beginners
Feb 2020 • Couples
This was my favourite mountain we went to in the hakuba valley. Coupled with happo 47, it had a good mix of terrain, and there's also a park for those who like to hit rails, jumps and boxes.
There was never a long line for the goryu gondola and it took you a lot higher than the Happo 47 gondola.
Nice long groomed runs, some fun cat tracks and no long lift lines.

Fabulous area.

This is my favourite area in all of Hakuba. I have been here many times and you never have to wait for the lifts. The terrain is suited to all levels.

Love it

Goryu is our favourite spot in Hakuba so far - purely subjective - yes! Night skiing was great too. To top up our skiing each day, we'd finish up with Yogorino - yogurt 'ice-cream' in a waffle-cone - oiiishiii!

Unprofessional ski patrol
Feb 2020 • Friends
Today I ducked a rope at Iimori/ goryu ski resort which I deemed to be a relatively small transgression.
The reaction of the ski patrol was extremely unpleasant , the patroller shouted in my face in Japanese for at least five minutes even after I told him I only spoke English. He maintained a very aggressive physical posture throughout his dialogue before He proceeded to grab my goggles off my face and rip the bib from me I was wearing .
The behaviour was very intimidating right on the edge of physical assault .
I find it wholly unacceptable.
I will be avoiding this resort in the future .

Cool ski resort

Great ski resort next to and sharing tickets with Hakuba 47. We skied here 3 out of 6 weeks. The pass price is higher than other resorts but it gives you a good variety of trails.

Good skiing
Feb 2020 • Couples
47/Goryu resort offers nice skiing. The slopes are mostly redfdish. There are two gondolas and number of older chairlifts.

Most restaurants require cash payment.

Sadly no snow this year
Jan 2020
Nice wide green runs at the bottom but quite crowded. Links to Hakuba 47 so a lot of runs available even when some lifts have to close
