I hiked the mountain alone last 1st week of July. There are no buses operating that week, so I took a taxi from Hakuba area which costs me probably ¥3000 one way. Upong reaching Sarukura, you have to write down your name from the guest list and crampons is a must. They do sell 4 point crampons at the hut... More

Not such a long hike as Yarigatake and Tsurugidake and, although it's a bit lower, the views are great. Possible to approach by bus or ropeway from Hakuba, then hiking. There are mountain huts just below the top. As usual, huge crowds for weekends and holidays. A longer, alternate way down is through the Yari Onsen hot springs, where there... More

A great hill walk with amazing scenery and views. The track became a little congested in places, but everyone was patient and helpful. Lots of photo ops.
