This is a fairly industrial old fishing town with very little to attract tourists.
It's quant, sort of, with quite a few dilapidated timber buildings scattered amount the other uninspiring buildings.
The coast is quite spectacular heading West through a long tunnel and the surf is quite heavy smashing at the seawalls right along the coast.
There are good few restaurants a couple of blocks into town but we didn't find any harbour side eatery as one might envisage from its location on the map.
The Iwanai Ski area is nearby but limited with only 1 lift we saw, and its mainly for Cat Skiing trips.
Ok for a half day trip drive if you need a day off skiing but not a highly rateable place.
You can head there from Kutchan in about 30min and head back via Rykoshin Niseko/ Moiwa (longer return).

We visited this harbor in the afternoon, it's very quiet and not too many activities there, also no interesting place to walk around. We managed to find a small scallops shop, we bought few packed of dry scallops, the quality of the scallops is very good.
