About
The House of Powder or “The House” is like its big brother The House of Machines (THoM); it’s a fine purveyor of a lifestyle. A lifestyle built around winter experiences – the powder we want, the hardware we ride, the coffee we drink, the cocktails and craft beer we consume, the apparel we wear, and the music that fills our lives. We are a community. Our only concern is the experience you deserve.

Wow - first time full on powder skiing and couldn't have asked for more. Great guides, deep powder tracking all day. Some of our group had an onsen which was really worth while. Good safe environment and highly recommended for a powder day out.

Great guides who let you explore the mountain after a few runs. Mountain is on the small side, but you can go and ski yourself without getting lost. Frequent runs up the mountain, I think we squeezed in 14 assents. Rustic , tasty food in the base cabin for lunch. Guides helpful & friendly. Great powder. Def. visit again.

This CAT operation is best suited for those learning to ski powder or wanting a chilled easier day out with a mountain to themselves.
The staff were friendly and professional, clearly knew the area and terrain well, and were efficient in getting everyone on and off the CAT.
The unique part of this operation is the unguided aspect. Whilst that sounds potentially scary, it isn’t, as after about 2-3 runs you realise all runs essentially lead back to the base. The unguided nature of it means that if you’re an intermediate skier or boarder you won’t feel the pressure to keep up with faster or more advanced people in the group. This is a huge plus for someone like me who is still trying to improve pow skills and doesn’t want to delay the group.
The cost is relatively reasonable, especially compared to somewhere like Iwanai which charges almost double.
For a fun day out this is great. It won’t be the steepest or necessarily deepest, but it’s a good chill backcountry experience.

Extremely expensive program for what they offer. They take you to an abandoned ski center, where you are taken up with the snow cat on the same line where a chairlift used to operate. Small mountain, very short descents and no slopes. They charge U $ S 350 which includes a lunch in which they do not even include a drink. It is much better to stay skiing at Niseko United. The catskiing program is useful when they take you to inhospitable places, where the rest of the people do not arrive. This program is not worth even for a beginner. I do not recommend it. It was the worst experience in Niseko.

So i went solo on this adventure and Johnny and Lindsay (Guides) really looked after me. I had the time of my life.
The service is "Western" so they know what they are doing and don't try and make it hard. Make sure you hire powder skis though. As I saw people try and do it with all-mountain and they found it hard.
Lunch is provided and was nice. great location and great powder

Great and friendly staff. The terrains are friendly and it is a good spot to learn powder skiing, but experienced skiers will also find some fun. As there hadn't been any snowfall for three days we asked a lot of question before booking our trip with the staff at Explore Niseko. They were all excited and could not brag enough. We felt that they could have given a more realistic picture of the current conditions as it turned out to be a few fresh tracks and little powder. However, our guide from The House of Powder gave a realistic picture of current conditions as soon as we met him the morning we went skiing. I think the key is to watch the weather forecast and book your trip accordingly. Book as close as possible to the day you're actually going. Also, if there are more than two days since last snowfall the chances of finding fresh tracks seems to be small. It seemed that people also use this place for backcountry skiing as well, which means more people "fight" for the same powder. We were not lucky with the weather. However if you are and get a huge dump of snow the day before, as often happens in Japan, you will probably have a awesome day. Either or, the firendly staff will take good care of you. Feed you with a simple lunch and give you a free beer at The Hose Of Machines afterwards (a awesome place by the way).

I spent the day cat skiing with The House of Powder at Chisenupuri and it was awesome! The staff there was friendly knowledgable and experienced. The day started with a friendly pick up from the front door of my accommodation where the driver took us to the lodge. once at the lodge there was coffee and snacks out for us while we geared up and received a safety briefing.

We got picked up and dropped off at our hotel.
It snowed all night and all day.
So much snow.
So, so much.
We did about 13 runs all day.
They supplied a simple lunch.
Bring your own snacks.
100% worth it if there is snow.
Ask to sit in the cab for a ride up....

Came on a less busy day with about a dozen fellow skiers. Got picked up from our hotel in Hirafu and driven to their base of operations in Chisenupuri. A very raw building but with loads of character. A safety briefing then ensued with a quality briefing on avalanche safety, the use of relevant equipment even though the risk was low - credit to you guys for this. The CAT does laps up and and down, initially you can be guided along the several runs available. It was a very secluded spot to ski, away from crowds and this made it such a pleasant experience. There is absolutely no pressure to come down each run in a certain time limit, no one hounding you from behind - totally relaxed, loved it. There's the option of Onsening for a very small fee after. If you are looking for CAT skiing - I highly recommend HoP, fitted in a around 10 runs, could have been more if you wanted but it was more than good enough for us. Thanks HoP for a great day out!

If you want to go powderskiing nothing beats this experience. Make sure you watch the weather reports and book your trip accordingly. You will be making fresh tracks all day long...

Anyone know if they check their email during off season? I've tried to email them twice through their website, but no one has bothered to answer me. Maybe they went out of business after last season?
