I actually did not have this park on the itinerary, but it just was recommended. Very beautiful landscapes, even in winter. All the trees, snow, and frozen water.

We visited the park on our drive from Hakodate to Lake Toya.
Picturesque scenery with forests, lakes, bridges & Mount Komagatake. Not crowded.
There are a number of easy walking trials, great for peaceful & relaxing strolls. The many bridges with steps may prove to be challenging for the elderly folks though.
Worth a visit!

We have visited the Park by the end of October but the weather was not that good. Despite of the windy condition, we walked around portion of the park and took photos on the surrounding environment. We have also have our snacks in the restaurant inside and it was really relaxing.

If weather is fine, it would worth to stop by and spend an hr or 2 exploring this park when you are driving away from Hakodate heading to Sapporo or North. While we were there, weather was gloomy with light drizzle. Yet we found it to be pleasant for a relax stroll overs some of the stone bridges, and taking photo along the shores of the lake. If weather is good, we would have gone further and spend more time exploring more well established paths.

There are many walking paths recommended for visitors. Many sites are available along these paths for one to take great photos. There are also boat hiring in the park and it's worth spending an hour in rowing boat to see the park from the lake. If you don't fancy boat rowing you can still get on a large boat tour to see the better view of the park.

Just 1 stop from Shin-Hakodate where I was staying. Scenic and relaxing. Not touristy, visited mainly by locals. Quiet and peaceful, feels unspoiled. Yets there are many activities for families. Do remember to try the Onuma beef at the little eatery right outside.

we were here in late oct 2017 after visiting hakodate. it’s about 45 minutes drive from hakodate. the park offers different routes depending on the time you have. we opted for the shortest route which could be completed under 45 minutes. it’s simply a place to enjoy the amazing autumn colours. you can enjoy the stroll while taking in the beautiful sights. there are lakes too, with pedal boats available for rent. don’t miss it if you visit hokkaido during autumn and you are near hakodate. it’s 3 hours by car from sapporo.

Went in February and the place was covered in white. The lakes were frozen and you’re able to walk on them. Staff working around the area was friendly and nice. Able to take nice shots from 2-3 places. Do expect many tourists coming to this place.

Known for their views, their trails aren't as interesting as expected. Drop by if you have the time - it's not a huge miss.
