Lovely park surrounded by the huge Onuma Lake
Oct 2019
We went on a rainy day, which was a little unfortunate as we couldn't see Mount Komagatake from the observation points. However the mists did give off a different and mysterious feel to the park. We did not hike a long way - we did the shortest hike path and took a boat instead, which took us nearer to Mount Komagatake (who was shrouded under the heavy mist). The sky was just very overcast and grey, but we still enjoyed the boat ride. Would love to visit again on a clear day.

Biking around the lake
Jul 2019 • Couples
We rent electric bikes to circle around the lake, and it was wonderful. Not touristy at all, during the whole time biking, it’s just us, very peaceful and relaxing.

Beautiful park!
Sep 2018
It was already beautiful and nice to walk when I was there, but I felt it could be even better in other seasons. Could take many memorable photos as it as not too crowded when I was there. Regretfully I only spent a short period of time there, but I would love to return and go on other parts of the walking trails to absorb more of the beauty of nature.

Scenic Park with Island-Dotted Lakes & a Majestic Volcano, Mount Komagatake. Great for Walks.
May 2019 • Couples
We visited the park on our drive from Hakodate to Lake Toya. Picturesque scenery with forests, lakes, bridges & Mount Komagatake. Not crowded. There are a number of easy walking trials, great for peaceful & relaxing strolls. The many bridges with steps may prove to be challenging for the elderly folks though. Worth a visit!

Beautiful!
Apr 2019 • Friends
Having read about the ‘landscape of soaring mountains, glistening lakes and dense forests’ we decided a guided excursion along nature trails and across bridges was a good idea, It was absolutely beautiful and, although the trees were still wintry in mid April, it did offer some superb photo opportunities. A worthwhile trip.

Beautiful! Worth the visit!
Mar 2019 • Couples
Went there early Mar’19, totally amazed with the beautiful view. Amazing view of the frozen lake melting, no crowd (reached there around 3pm). Worth the visit if you have plan to Hakodate. This park only 5 min walk from the station..

One of the Most beautiful places on earth
Feb 2019 • Friends
Covered in snow, yet there is no shortage of things to do in this area. My friends and I were able to ride snowmobiles, ice-fish, and go sledding. Then of course we followed it up with some ice-cream, because we worked up a sweat! The scenery is seriously like something out of a fiction novel.

Fun ice fishing
Feb 2019 • Family
Ōnuma Quasi-National Park is such a breather. It is just outside of Hakodate and here you can enjoy the natural scenery along with tasting local foods and visiting famous spots. It locates on Mount Komagatake, a currently-active stratovolcano, and surrounded by lakes. Here was my first time trying ice fishing. This activity involves fishing for wakasagi smelt through a hole in the thick ice of Onuma (large lake) or Konuma (small lake). You can even ask to fry your catch or try fried smelt cooked out on the ice. Also speaking of local dishes in Hokkaido, there are some restraints that serve Jingisukan that is grilling sheep meats and vegetables. If you missing lamb and mutton here in Japan because it's somewhat difficult to find outside of the northern part of Japan you will definitely enjoy this dish. It is also a good chance to try specialty of the local cuisine.

the best breathtaking place
Feb 2019 • Friends
Here is the best breathtaking place in this trip for me! Let it go, let it go!! Yes, I was ready to be Elsa (What?) Highly recommended !!! Believe me 🤩 There were 2 activities, snowboarding and fishing. Of course! I chose super extreme activity which was Fishing 😂 ( I had a bad experience on snowboarding 🥺) We have to walk in the woods for 15 mins, because of the location of ice lakes. While walking, oh mannnn everything was white (snow covering). We could see squirrel 🐿, (At KMUTT, we could get an A in every class, right?) After we arrived at the fishing area, we could see the Mt.Komagatake which is an active volcano. We learnt how to fish from a professional instructor. Eventually, I caught two! Good job, Belluuuuu We took the caught fish to chef for frying them 🥺 I was sorry n’fish. (美味しかった🤤) Then, we had a lunch at here. Genkikan BBQ

Best place for group trips and solo travelers !
Feb 2019 • Solo
First and foremost this place is has a beautiful lake that is dotted with 126 small islands that are connected by 18 bridges! Here are my top 3 activities you should definitely try out ! ** snowmobiling. You have the option to ride on your own, with 2 people or if you go with a group, a sledge with seats will be attached to the snowmobile. Perfect activity to view the beautiful frozen lake and Mt. Komagatake. ** Wakasagi fishing. This is also a personal favorite as it promotes a bonding experience. This activity involves placing a fish rod ( with already prepared bait ) into a drilled hold in the ice to catch a fish. The fish that can be cooked later on in the restaurant is called Wakasagi. If you don’t know how to fish, you have an instructor that can help you out ** Walking around the small island and bridges that give you breath taking views of the natural surroundings and a magical view of the Mt. Komagatake. Also perfect for those photographers and vloggers
