What a fantastic job done by these guys! Great restoration job, has a great feel about it, lovely place to catch weekday or weekend movie, showing fab indie movies and great classics (will go see Cool Hand Luke next week ) have a glass of wine (great wine list) and tasty snack menu really comfy lounge area or sit outside at the benches. Fantastic warm local feel, thanks, we will be regulars.

We had come here to see our kid perform, thoroughly enjoyed as the theatre is a decent one - neither small nor big.

It’s nice and easy to get out to this venue on public transport and it’s surrounded by plenty of good options for a pre-show drink or an after-show supper. The downstairs Velvet Room is a bit tired, with wobbly tables and stained chairs, and the night we were there it felt really chilly on a winter's evening - we kept our jackets on throughout and even that was only just enough. The bar offers a limited range of drinks (served with a friendly smile) but there are no food options and we were told we couldn't bring nibbles/food in from outside - come on, guys, it's gotta be one or the other! I guess you tolerate it depending on what you're coming to see...but there's plenty of room for improvement here.

Great old theatre. Went for dinner and a show I can cook better at home. The meals were 50/50 a piece of chicken or steak borth placed on a tiny bit of mash potatoe with beans and sweets was some pav. Not worth the money. Cheapest bottle of wine $35 which was not that good either.

Very hard for disabled people to get around. The lift we had to use the button was broken to bring it up so someone had to go downstairs to bring it up and the toilets were downstairs.

Last night we attended this venue to see the amazing Katie Noonan perform. The acoustics of the venue are amazing. This is where the amazingness ends.

Such a shame to come here for the first time to see a great gig and be confronted by a bad attitude from the grey-bearded man who introduces himself as 'the boss'. Bombastic, arrogant and rude. Unfortunately the bad attitude has trickled down to some of the staff.

The venue has a bizarre seating arrangement where GA are screwed over and made to feel like they are crashing the gig even though they are only paying $5 less than those seated at tables. Information about the ticketing situation is not clear when purchasing the tickets. GA implies there is an area that you can stand and enjoy the gig, this is not the case at this venue. They have this weird ballroom seating around large round tables and GA are forced to stand in awkward areas against the back ball or upstairs where you can't see the stage at all. 'The 'Boss' is rude when you speak to him about seating /standing options and as tho it is our fault for not having attended the venue previously. Some of the staff in the bar are either incompetent or rude to patrons. The staff that aren't rude are clearly unhappy working here. I witnessed one unacceptable interaction between a patron and bartender who had clearly forgotten that he's in the service industry. It was so uncomfortable that although I was served my incorrect beverage, I just wanted to be removed from the situation so paid $9 for my incorrect drink and had to just accept it.

The foyer/bar area is stinking hot. Everyone was sweating up pre-show and at interval while lining up for a drink. We suggest only coming here in Winter. Conversely, the theatre has these insane fans that make it freezing inside the venue. You feel like you are in a freezer.

Furthermore, not only did the venue run out of glassware (service cost cutting perhaps), but 10 minutes into the concert there was no ice left so they served up ice dregs from the wine 'bucket' that was floating in dirty water and in contact with the outside of the handled bottles. I'm pretty sure that's unhygienic team Thornbury! It's not nice to see this happening when you are paying $9 for a basic spirit.

We hate that these grand old venues are dying one at a time, but coming here has sadly given us an insight into why it happens. These 'old guys' think they can own an old venue and service it as tho we are still in the 50's, yet pay 2000's prices and people will be ok with it.

Despite the amazing acoustics (which is expected in old venues), the experience was unpleasant. I am in shock how rude 'The Boss' was.

We didn't eat here but saw the quality of food. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, eat before you arrive unless you want to have an expensive bowl of fried rubbish.

Took 89 year old to see Downton Abbey. When I rang about the special requirements the staff were very helpful. On arrival they were great in helping us with seating arrangements. The atmosphere of this place is relaxing and peaceful and friendly. The old converted petrol station into a theatre is a must see plus looking at the memorabilia..... cameras etc. comfortable seats Senior prices and you can buy beverages alcoholic drinks to sip on whilst watching the movie.

A well restored theater, plenty of different shows. But the theater itself is great. The sound could be a better.

this is a great venue to see live music close up. Have been several times and they have some good acts.
However unfortunately last night we were looking forward to seeing Chris Kavanagh with his Luke Kelly, Dubliners tribute. He was too oud which ruined his diction and over powered the guy playing pipes and violins with him. Huge young Irish crownd who did not seem to care as they knew all the songs and when not singing along were talking so i guess he felt he had to be loud.We did speak to sound man at interval but did not seem to make any difference.
All 6 of us were really disappointed.
