One turn off the highway, short but slightly rough drive to the parking area. Google Maps wanted us to keep going, but there is a rock with"waterfall" carved into it and painted yellow on the right hand side of the road at a gate. There...More

These waterfalls are a few miles off the pan-american highway between Cañas and Liberia. The dirt road to get there is bit rough, but should be derivable even with a 2 wheel drive car in the dry season. When you get there they ask for...More

Easy drive from Tamarindo. Ask the locals or use Google maps to get there. Road is rocky getting down to waterfall but it was very nice. We went during rainy season so water was running strong.

Llanos de Cortez Waterfall is super close to Liberia off Route 1. The falls are actually pretty sizable and you can swim there. The turn off is very poorly marked. It's actually a handwritten sign that says "Waterfall." Then you travel up a dirt road...More

This waterfall is simply beautiful. Be warned that proper shoes need to be worn as navigating down rocks to the bottom of the waterfall. If you wear flip flops don't be surprised that you flip off the side of the steps. Tennis shoes or any...More

Absolutely beautiful waterfalls, with enough of a hike to get you warmed up, yet not too much to take the wind out of you. A lovely spot that seems to be not so well known, as there were only a couple of other people there....More

This is off the main highway and not well-marked. If you are travelling to Liberia from the south-east to the north-west on Interamericana route 1 you will need to do a u-turn in the special left turn spots and come back about 1 km after...More

Lovely waterfall with pretty 'beach' and great plunge pool that is hallow/safe at one end but possible to climb behind the rocks - our teens loved it. A favourite of local Costa Rican families so can be busy - so might be worth trying to...More

Although not well marked from the main road, the waterfalls are accessible in your own rental car via a dirt road similar to most dirt roads in Costa Rica -- rocky with pot holes. You do have to pay to gain entry to the area...More

Very pretty waterfall, & still looks white like the photos even during the rainy season (when other water features in the area like Rio Celeste can apparently can turn dirty brown). However, we've seen 2 waterfalls just as nice at home in Ireland (Glenariff [featured...More

We went with a private tour so I have no idea as well. I remember we drove on a divided road but that isn't very helpful!
