Not your usual garden centre, but a huge selection of unusual plants, and very friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit.

The nursery is being tidied after a few years' neglect. There are some uncommon plants for sale and a visit is worthwhile.

We visited this nursery yesterday and had a really lovely experience. If you want to find perennials that are not stocked by your average large garden centre and are very reasonably priced, then this is the place for you. The nursery is very attractively situated in the walled garden of a stately home; there is a small but useful shop and drinks can be purchased on the premises. We came away with a Green Man and half a dozen plants which we had not found stocked elsewhere. The owner is very knowledgable and friendly. We will definitely revisit this great discovery.

Lovely castle, which is lived in as a family home. Guided tour which was interesting & started in a really impressive entrance room in the Tudor part of the building. It has a lovely homely feel & privileged to e able to visit. Also has a really nice chapel & pretty garden. Next door is a nice plant nursery in the old walked garden. Unfortunately there are restricted opening times but well worth a visit if you can.

Called into the nursery and grounds whilst travelling back from a stay in Wark. Pretty grounds with beautiful views. Well stocked nursery with good range of plants including some more unusual ones. Takes around an hour to visit depending on the weather, on a hot day you may want to stay longer.

Small nursery in a walled garden ran by a very helpful chap, we found him to be very knowledgeable. He has some unusual perennials and very reasonable prices, if you want something a bit different, from the usual perennials you find in most garden center's, this is a good place to seek out if you are in the area. He will quite happily make a coffee for you.

Very disappointed, thought it would offer a good selection of plants for sale but no. A vey small offering and most plants were in poor condition. Parking area very small and shop offered a limited selection of products. Won't bother again.

Located in the walled garden of Chipchase Castle this little nursery is less than 3 miles from Hadrians wall (5 miles by road) but is well worth a visit. Run by enthusiastic owners it sells a selection of unusual varieties of perennials that you'll struggle to find in garden centres. The extensive herbaceous borders which occupy three quarters of the walled garden are full of interest. If you are looking for something a bit different for your borders I'm sure you'll find it here. There is a small sign on the roadside directing Chipchase castle nursery traffic into the rear entrance of the castle. It is then a case of following the signs along the track to the small car park and entrance. Do not expect a garden centre. This is more akin to a tranquil garden haven that sells plants.
