We only happened on the zoo in Povoacao after a stop at the town's main square for a quick lunch break. This is a free entry small town park with a few aviaries that drew us in with a macaw in a fairly generous cage....More

I was absolutely appalled by the squalor that these beautiful animals have to endure. I am not exaggerating when I say it spoiled my day out to this beautiful town , only to witness shocking cruelty to the animals and birds . This place needs...More

If I could rate this as ZERO I would. Oh my those poor birds in cages that were far too small and in full sun. They had no room to fly it really upset me. I couldn't even go and look at any other animals...More

Shouldn’t be even considered an attraction- animals kept in really poor condition. Avoid at all costs. This kind of place shouldn’t exist in 2018.

What is supposed to be a happy place is actually a very sad visit. I don't understand how authorities let animals live in these kind of extremely tiny cages and with filthy conditions. The monkeys have severe skin infections and the ducks/swans don't have proper...More

CLOSE THIS EVIL PLACE DOWN IMMEDIATELY . The inhabitants of Povoacao should be ashamed of the way they condone the treatment of these animals .
