Looks good outside but the inside....
May 2019 • Couples
Quite a disappointment , having waited eagerly for two years to come back again to this area.
It’s essentially a mini aquarium. Going down to B1 only- to see small fish tanks.
There is a viewing port but only small small fishes in the ocean, at one portal window only!
The rest of it was ...... errrrr .... BORING!!
Tickets were like 800Y per adult!
Bah- don’t waste time and money!
Structure looks nice outside only.
Sure Garinko icebreaker was parked outside at the wharf but.... stationary, not in season.

If only to come back in dead winter to take the boat ride-but.....

Great views
Feb 2019 • Friends
It was a really interesting experience. the tower has different levels, in the upper one there are binoculars without extra charge that you can use to observe the amazing views. In the other levels there are movies and animals.
It is really worth it dropping by while waiting to board on the Garinko.

Many sea animals exotic and cool! Almost an aquarium!!!
Feb 2019 • Friends
Some were very exotic. And the cutest little angelic but devilish in nature animals were there as well! There were fish from the deep sea, there were lots of star fish!

Beautiful Views
Feb 2019 • Friends
If you are looking for somewhere to take beautiful pictures of the ocean and of the town, this is the place to go. The building provides a 360 degree view of the area and the basement even allows you to see into the ocean!

The view from the tower is amazing!

The view from the tower is amazing! You can see many ice and birds from the tower. Near the tower you can enjoy the Garinko. The winter is the best season to visit this place!

Must visit when in Monbetsu
Feb 2019 • Friends
When walking to the first floor of the tower, there are windows on the floor that gives a view of the drift ice during the winter. The third floor is where you can get a lovely view of the Okhotsk sea. If you go outside on the observatory deck you can really enjoy the winds while viewing the Okhotsk sea.
In the basement there are displays of a variety of marine life, with their exhibit of Clione being a center point. I didn't get to experience the basement and the second floor as much as I would have liked to but they looked interesting

Hokkaido Vacation 2018

A bus brings you from Garinko Station to Okhotsk Tower whichvis aomw distance away. The tower has 3 floors. First we went to 2nd floor to watch a 4D under water movie experience. Then we went to 3rd floor to get a panoramic view of Monbetsu and Pacific Ocean. Next we went to B which is 8.15m under sea level to see aquariums of deep sea fishes jelly fish etc. Must visit.

Good view of Okhotsk Sea
Jun 2018 • Family
The tower boasts a good view of the Okhotsk sea area surrounding Monbetsu and has a fascinating aquarium at the basement showcasing different species of marine life. However the shuttle bus from the tower to the car park took quite a while to depart and the tower was dated and in need of some refurbishment.

Cool place to learn about sea ice
May 2018 • Friends
We chanced upon this place as it was next to the seal center. Entrance fee is 800 yen, including a 6 minute 4D show. This place would probably be more interesting during drift ice season when you can actually see the drift ice from the tower itself. Nonetheless, we had fun and learned a lot from the video.

There’s also an underwater mini-aquarium in the basement, with creatures from the Sea of Okhotsk.

Worth a visit if you don’t know much about drift ice (like us).

Do note that the parking lot is about 500 to 600 meters from the tower itself. Don’t worry, there’s a free shuttle bus from the Garinko (ice-breaking boat) terminal.
