I'm not convinced this is the best place to take young children. Whilst the courtyard is a broad grass area, the keep (or donjon) has some rather precarious stairs that young children could easily slip on. In addition you suddenly find yourself on the roof and, if it is anything like our visit (middle of August), it is very windy!... More

A great place to visit for a morning or afternoon. Lots of history and information as you tour around. Lovely views across Puivert and beyond.

This castle has good views, fascinating rooms and history and despite some attempts in the past is unspoilt by making it a cheesy tourist destination. The drive to the car parking is a little challenging and the road is in poor condition. You will not need much more than 30 mins there but if you took a picnic it would... More

This was just one stop on my tour through Cathar country. This chateau was the highlight for me. Older and nicer-looking than the chateau de Rennes. Better weather here than at the cloud-covered Montsegur castle (though that may be a coincidence). Although the chateau in Foix is also nice, the more ruinous appearance of Puivert appeals more to me. Only... More

I really enjoyed this Chateau. The scenery is very beautiful. You have a splendid music room where you can still feel the lively energy of song and dance. There is also a round table here with some knight helmets hanging on the wall. I really enjoyed the Chateau and it s history and connection to the Troubadors.

This chateau has a well preserved keep with two accessible vaulted rooms. The views from the chateau were excellent..The problem with this chateau was LACK of information. There was no descriptive leaflet given at the gate. There were poorly maintained multi language signs that were not very legible. In the the keep there was a DVD player with no instructions and another one... More

One of the many chateaus in the area. the road to the car park is a bit of an adventure, as is the climb to the entrance. They have occasional medieval moments but you take pot luck. This is nothing special, but worth a visit to help understand the Cathare history

Road up to chateau is very rutted but driveable if careful and there are no mad drivers bombing down the hill! Views are stunning, looking over nearby lake and seeing the glider planes take oof and land at nearby airfield. Chateau itself is worth a visit with good views from the top.

Puivert is a bit out of the way but well worth the trip, check it out on your gps or map, the views are spectacular, and so much history. Sure the drivable track from the road up is bit shoddy, but it's doable, park a pay just few euro and in you go, make sure you pick a clear day... More

There is quite a walk up hill from the carpark. But it's definitely worth a visit. As as you walk across the courtyard of the Chateau, look across fields of wheat and majestic mountains of the Pyrenees & imagine the battles and celebrations that took place here. Climb the inner and outer spiralling staircases and see the lookout room, then... More
