Unique, Old fashioned underground boat tour
Jun 2019 • Friends
We enjoyed this tour on a super hot day, so this activity gave us a break from the heat. Just plan to be dressed for the 53 F / 13 C temps.

You need to be able to walk on wet surfaces (2 boat changes) and go up and down stairs (at least 100 steps) and a trail to go back and forth to the parking.

The rides is about 1.5 km long and takes about 1.5 hour to complete. the driver uses an overhead cable to pull the boat along (that has to be hard) and explains the major features of the cave and river.

It is a unique, and interesting tour and experience.

Children loved it
Aug 2017 • Family
We went early as we were told it gets busy towards mid day. Absolutely charming staff. Our guide, Luc, was great. Full of historical anecdotes and very charming and funny with all in boat. A great underground trip. Would do it again.
I only gave it a 4 because of the worthless snack bar. Hardly a server to be seen. My husband went in to order and was ignored. Bring your own food.
Was also a bit pricey. Had to pay full rate for a 12 year old, €10. Need a student rate

amazing
Apr 2017 • Family
we have tried to do this boat trip last year, but it was already fully booked. So we had to wait a full year, to give it another try... and it was worth the wait!

It as both adventurous as educational. Our 8 year old girl was over the moon, asking lots of questions and very excited. the guide gives lots of information and making it very "fairy-tale-y" for the kids. shapes of witches, birthday cakes, the village of the Smurfs...

Perfect to do on a very hot day, of a rainy day.

Interesting cave visit and nice relief from heat

This is a well organised attraction. I was worried we would have to queue but it was all straightforward and we were allocated a boat within 10 minutes of getting our tickets. The caves are fabulous, you spend part of your time walking, but mostly on boats which are propelled by the muscle power of your guide. Our guide spoke mostly in French, which was fine as we could understand half of what he said and he chipped in with some English. Don't expect to definitely get an English tour, though you could maybe ask at the ticket office.

Once you are underground it is great...

The caves themselves are really good. The journey lasts over an hour with two changes of boat. Lots of interesting rock formations. However, above ground things are not so well organised. There is one cash desk as the woman has to record every booking on paper so the queue is very long. The service in the cafe is awful. We waited 45 minutes for three cold drinks and a coffee which still hasn't arrived by the time our tour started. Luckily we hadn't paid. I'd take your own food!

Underground gem
Jul 2016
I highly recommend this tour of the underground caves, they are stunning. You access the caves via a footpath where a guide meets you. Visitors are invited to board a boat and the guide pulls you through the caves on an underground river. The trip I went on lasted approximately 90 minutes.

Unfortunately my guide did not speak English but that did not spoil my enjoyment of this beautiful step into an underground world.

Incredible
Jun 2016 • Family
Despite a bit of a slow start to the tour (a coach trip turned up just after we'd paid and they were pushed through, much to our annoyance) it was a great hour or so.
The caves are really incredible and we all found the hour long journey great.
There are A LOT of steps involved if you go down the natural entrance so if you have any mobility issues I would suggest you ask to start at the man made entrance.

Closed for lunch and can't be bothered !
Jun 2015 • Couples
We turned up on Sunday at the reception area at around 12:30 to find the ticket office, and washroom facilities closed and locked. There was a visible sign inside informing potential customers that the next boat would be at 14:00. So we thought we'd go and have a drink / snack at the on site bar - this too was closed and locked. Shortly afterwards a female employee was leaving the locked office area so we asked her why the snack bar was closed. She told us it was closed so that 'they' (the staff) could go and eat. I pointed out that it was lunchtime, there were a few customers waiting around and told her it was wrong to close the facilities. She told me that was the way things are done in France and that we should have possibly gone to visit another country if we didn't like it! Basically she could not have cared less and was more interested in leaving for her own lunch. Zero customer service.Needless to say - we didn't wait around and neither did many of the other people. Again, I suspect no one at Labouiche would be at all bothered!
