Went here from the D&D brewery nearby. The walk through the park with the ruins was ok and there was some interesting birds and a viewing tower to get to canopy level. The boardwalk was accessible but a section of about 100m is now dangerous and out of bounds. The lake is beautiful and we went on a dawn bird watching trip on it which was awesome - this was organised through the D&D brewery again.

Located by Lake Yojoa, this is a beautifully lush are. Gorgeous trees and plants and some birds. The Mayan areas are still earth covered mounds. So dont expect to see ruins like in Copan. It is still beautiful to see these mounds covered by grass and trees.
One of the trails has a long boardwalk. Many of the planks have fallen out. You can still walk on it, but do look down. I had a nasty fall as one leg fell through the area of a missing plank. Its easy to lose attention as you are looking at the nature around you.

Not as many birds as I had hoped for - but beautiful trails, very quite. Parts of the wooden railing and walkway are in need of some up-keep work.

There was a small museum to view a few artifacts. The tower you can climb overlooks a cornfield. Most of the pathways are not even accessible. We had to walk down a muddy trail and not really much to see. You do end up at the end with a hanging bridge that does have a beautiful view but you can see views like this all over the area.

good view over the lake and you can see several types of birds. I didn't visit the museum though. Worth a couple of hours

Make sure you get there at 3pm the latest. It takes time to walk the Park and you want to finish before the dark.

This was a nice place to take a walk on the boardwalk. We saw several types of birds and butterflies, and lots of interesting plants and flowers. There was a little snack bar, (chips and soda) and a small museum. Worth the trip.

A 1000 BC A group of people called the "LENCA" lived around this area. It is only lately that parts of their structures are being exposed. The park as well has many tropical plants, trees and eco sensitive vegetation. well worth a visit.

There is little to see here in the way of ruins. Looks there been no 'digs' for sometime and no explanation as to what there is. Although the nature walk was fun. There is also confusion on how to enter the park. We were told it was OK to enter from the Bridge and pay at the other end, but a soldier stopped us and we had to get a tickets first. This took an extra hour. Later we were told the soldier was wrong. Hard to argue with a man with a gun. Just made the experience a little low on expectations, and very hot!

Lose yourself in the birdsong and prepare for surprises if you walk quietly and stand still every once in a while.

There is not lodging in the park, but two very good, reasonably priced places in the vicinity:
D and D Brewery and Lodging, and Finca El Paraiso at Agua Caliente. Both are reviewed on Tripadvisor.
