Nice locations

Awesome place and views. If go there again, it will the camping and longer. As we go from there, we saw that we could rent kayak. Next time.

We go to Hecla Island every summer and stay in the camp ground or the vacation cabins. The campgrounds are nice and private and well kept. Good washroom and shower facilities. There is also a hotel and spa and a motel to choose from. There is a restaurant in the hotel and one at the motel, a store at the... More

The cabins seemed nice but not much room around them. The campground sites were not great. Fish flies were horrible. The beach was fairly non-existent. The hotel seemed nice when we walked around it...best part of the place probably! Trails were horribly muddy with black, thick, sticky mud. I cannot remember much that we enjoyed except stopping Gimli on the... More

We went back to Hecla. We stayed in cabin 12 it is pet friendly. The puppy had a great time too. We found new trails and a couple of paths to a very quiet beach. Lots of biking, hiking and bonfires. I love the Hecla cabins.

There are so many trails and beaches to explore on Hecla. It's definitely a place for the nature lover. This (2016) seems to be a bad year for mosquitoes and fishflies so be prepared for that if you're not fond of either. The walk out to the lighthouse is beautiful and with changing terrain depending on where you're walking/biking from... More

Stayed here in early June, for a beautiful and relaxing three day get-away. We reserved a vacation cabin in the campground and it was very clean, dry and convenient. Cabins come with a fire pit, fridge, stovetop and beds and futons. It rained two of the nights we were there and it was lovely to be able to play cards... More

Enjoying the peace and quiet- seems like a nice spot for families - has a play area - nice walk to 1878 lighthouse - it was warm and bugs weren't bad

We were here during cool weather, but had plenty to do. We lived walking and jogging on the trails, beach combing, and spotting different birds and butterflies. Very lush and amazing sunsets!

We spent the day hiking the trails branching off from the Hecla resort. First walk of the day was around Old Hecla town then off to the Marina and the trails branching off from there. The walks to the Lighthouse is well groomed and equally beautiful. Trails are well groomed and easy to maneuver. Beaches are clean. The only negative... More

If it's a summer day and you have a car at your disposal and you don't mind being ravaged repeatedly by mosquitoes, it's worth a drive up to Hecla Island just to remind yourself that most of southern Manitoba is just a couple of rainy years from being just like Hecla Island. There's not a huge amount to do on... More
