When we go to LA union the one place we always always (must) visit is conchagua. It's such a beautiful town with so much culture and rich knowledge of the town and cities surrounding it. It's a very safe and calm little town. You sit for hours watching people and the kids play around the park or the basketball areas.... More

The views from the Conchagua towards the Golf of Fonseca are breathtaking. We asked the local police for directions to a sort of tourist office where they contacted a local guide who arranged to drive us around. It´s really worth it : a short, easy walk goes to a former military viewing tower where the views are best.

Went up the volcano with some friends and really got to enjoy views that cannot be achieved on the ground. It was really a good walk, physically and mentally. I recommend the volcano to anybody who visits.

Love the view to the islands surrounding the Golf of Fonseca boarding Honduras and Nicaragua. The climate and vegetation of this area is a beauty to enjoy while visiting the area.

When you reach the top you have a wonderful view of the Fonseca Gulf with its islands , the other side you can see the pacific coast of El Salvador and when you turn back you can see the HONDURAS border and Nicaragua. you must be there.

Not easy to find but worth it. Coming in on the La Union road bypass take the second exit right to Conchagita – NOT Conchagua. From here to the top it should take about 35 minutes using 4WD. I don’t think you could make it without 4WD. Ask for the Volcan – if i remember there is a brown sign... More
