About
Bodega Vistalba, founded by Carlos Pulenta, goes into a life story that is the most important reference when it comes to assessing the excellence of its wines. The descendant of an Italian family, Carlos Pulenta is the oldest son of Don Antonio Pulenta, one of the founders of the Bodega Penaflor, 80 years ago, which endured until 1997, when it was sold. Bodega Vistalba was built between 2001 and 2004 in a family-owned land at the heart of Vistalba (Lujan de Cuyo). This is where Carlos Pulenta developed his personal viticulture project, involving members of his family, consultants, enologists and a valuable group of people who really know this land. The winery is inspired in the Creole culture, resorting to cutting-edge technology and paying homage to traditional wine-making. It has been designed so that the entire winemaking process is completed using gravity and without pumps. The first wines were produced in the year 2003, and they were first placed on the market in the year 2005. Today, our wines are sold in more than 20 countries. In 2009 Alejandro Bulgheroni, connected to the agroindustry sector through several projects since the year 1999, began his participation in Bodega Vistalba, working with Carlos toward a common goal: "producing top-quality wines of world renown, with a marked identity and personality".

Their top of the line facilities, located on a magnificent landscape that surrounds the vineyards made the perfect scene for a relaxed and confortable wine tasting, romantic walk and some of our best profile pictures.
Maybe the only place in Mendoza where you can see a full 12ft natural cut of the soil, and it is indoors.
The attention to detail is noticeable from the gate and through the whole building.
The visit was guided by Franco, who was very knowledgeable, relaxed and really made us enjoy a memorable time, no memory repeated speeches there, thanks god. In fact, all the employees transmitted calmness and good natural feeling.
Wines are out of this world, ask for their CORTE A, the aroma fills the air around!

We did the tour and tasting in English with Florencia. This was the first tour I did in Mendoza that shared a bit more info on the actual grape growing which was interesting. She shared info with us on the sparkling wines as well.

The tasting was lovely. We tried a sparkling wine, a Sauvignon blanc, a Malbec, and a red blend I think. There was an open bottle of Florencia’s favorite—their Syrah—so she let us try some of that as well. After the tasting, she offered us a bit more wine so we brought that outside and enjoyed their spectacular view.

The tasting was very affordable as well and was half the price of another one we did elsewhere.

I was lucky enough to be able to make a last minute reservation, getting the last available table, earlier today. The food for lunch was excellent. They offered two fixed price meals: a 3 course or a 5 course meal ... each paired with the food of each course. Both the food and wine were excellent and the service was first rate. I wish I had taken a photo of both meal selections; but not being very hungry, today I chose the three course meal with grouper. The sommelier did an excellent job of matching one of the wineries wines with each course (including a sparkling wine with the bread before for the first course.) Fortunately, I had hired a driver for the day.

Had heard a lot about the winery. The location is scenic and beautiful ... get an excellent view of the Andes range, and in particular Aconcagua mtn. They have a full 12ft natural cut of the soil, indoors, forms one wall of the tasting room - impressive.
A beautiful winery; The guide was very knowledgeable, and with an excellent command of English.
Unfortunately, the wine tasting was lacking ... they are generous with their tasting portions, but regrettably only offered one premium wine for tasting. This was very unfortunate.

Me, my husband and a couple of friends travelled 40 km to have a lunch at Azafran, in Vistalba. We booked this lunch 4 months in advance and received an email to CONFIRM our visit the day before, which we did.

What a big surprise when we arrived at Vistalba and were told that the restaurant was no longer OPEN and that it closed for good in December 2021.

This was a total desrespect with us!! The Vistalba’s staff didn’t even know what was going on, totally unprepared!!! And they didn’t even took accountability for what happened, they acted as if it wasn’t there fault / concern at all!!

We’re never ever returning to Vistalba. We don’t recommend this winery to no one!!!

Maria Stella, we are very sorry for the confusion. Azafran Restaurant which has been working at the winery closed and moved to its previous location in December. They are no longer in the winery. The confirmation you received was from Azafran, not us. We truly appologize for not being able to offer any further compensation but again, the confirmation of the reservation was not done by the winery, and was done by Azafran. Sincerely, Bodega Vistalba

Could have been a great experience but unfortunately a bus load of Americans arrived as the tour started and joined us. Kids were in the tasting with us and the other adults were more interested in the football than the tasting. This meant the tasting was lacklustre and the sommelier couldn’t speak over much of the noise. Felt rushed and before we knew it we had tasted four wines and were ushered upstairs and back into the garden. Didn’t help that the soccer game was also starting so the on-site staff were more interested in that than keeping us happy.

We recently booked a wine tour weeks ahead from the states and agreed on a Saturday afternoon. The email from Vistalba confirmed the time and date. Imagine our surprise when we found the winery closed at noon on Saturday and our visit was planned for 3pm. Beware as they can be slipshod on this and if your schedule is tight, you might want to go to Alta Vista or even better Catena Zapata vineyards.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour at Vistalba. Franco, our guide, was excellent. We are definitely wine amateurs and he made it easy for us to understand and enjoyable. He was very down to earth and patient and made it a great experience.

After a pleasant but (compared to other places) perfunctory winery tour, the highlight was the pairing lunch. For $40 or so, a 4-course meal with 4 brilliantly chosen wines. 1. Olive and cheese board with homemade jam, paired with 2015 Tomero Sauvignon Blanc to start. 2. Appetizer Revuelto Gramajo (delicious, like a warm bacon-asparagus-potato salad on fried potato slivers) paired with a 2013 Corte B, Vistalba's midrange red blend (Cabernet, Malbec, Bonarda) that experts all over Argentina consider one of the best $25 wines in the country, and they are not wrong. Perfect balance of oak, fruit, and tannins. 3. The highlight, Ojo de Bife (Ribeye maybe?) with watercress and grilled zucchini and eggplant, paired with 2011 Tomero Malbec Gran Reserva (about $50-$60 a bottle). This wine was transcendent, and so unexpected in a reasonably-priced bodega pairing lunch. And as fantastic as the meat was, it was the grilled zucchini that blew me away. 4. Dessert of strawberry mousse and fresh strawberries paired with a sparkling wine (a blush-colored but dry blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir).

One of the best wineries making some of the best wines in the country. Topflight chefs. Sit out on the terrace and it will be hard to be any closer to heaven.
Also the views of the mountains from Bodega Vistalba are incredible, although the restaurant unfortunately looks out the other way.

We had good basic understanding of what winemaking is about by the time we got to Bodega Vistalba, as it was our third and last stop of the day. Our guide at Vistalba was a nice girl who clearly knew something about the work and processes required by winemaking and wasn't there only with memorized sentences.

But we had absolutely no idea how good the lunch would be. Starter, main course and dessert were paired with Vistalba's superb wine products. The beef medallion for main course was probably the best meat we had during our visit to Mendoza and we went to several places while staying in town for a week. The restaurant staff was professional and friendly. The views for the restaurant windows were like from a dream. Perfect end for our small one day wine tour.

RECOMMENDED!

It's difficult to get Vistalba wines back home so we left the vineyard with three bottles of what we had tried at their restaurant or earlier in other places in Mendoza.
