I had the Savia lunch experience, which was absolutely superlative! From the accompaniment when getting out of the car through the explanations about the vineyards, the area and the winery to the dishes in their different steps where you can see Julieta's hand in the kitchen and Juan's explanations when offering them on the table they exude love and respect for their work and the land that are a plus for the visitor to a winery in Mendaz and I also want to highlight Yamila's explanations about the exquisite Casarena wines. Whoever is in Mendoza has a must-see here to appreciate the best of this land and its people. I would return a thousand times!

Wonderful and personalized tour. Beautiful bodega and vineyard. Our guide Juliana knew so much more than the guides in other tastings/tours, and she presented everything in an easy to understand way. The tour was yesterday and I’m already recommending this visit to people in our hotel.

Wow! This “bodega” is excellent. Juliana, the sommelier did an amazing job telling us the history behind the “bodega” with an excellent tour. We came in the wrong time by mistake and she still figured out how to make it happen. Their wines are fantastic and the view of the “cordillera” full of snow was amazing. Great job Casarena.

We had an amazing tour with Lucas in February. We genuinely loved every minute- Lucas was really knowledgable (he really made it a great day) and the vineyard was beautiful. I couldn’t recommend this tour enough.

(Firstly I’d like to begin by clarifying that this is a review of our visit to the bodega and not the restaurant (there is a separate tripadvisor entry for that I believe).
Where to begin? My girlfriend and I spent 4 days visiting many different bodegas in all three of the principle wine regions of Mendoza (Maipu, Lujan de Cuyo and Valle de Uco) visiting 15 in total. We arranged our visits independently and hired a private driver to ferry us from appointment to appointment. Now the vast majority we visited based on wine guides, word of mouth recommendations, guide books, tripadvisor etc. However, Casarena was nowhere to be found. So, how did we end up visiting them?
Well, having lived in Buenos Aires for a few months one of our favourite tipples became Casarena’s “Ramanegra Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2010”. A very drinkable, sophisticated and well balanced cabernet which requires no food accompaniment. So being a fan of the wine already, we thought - why not give the makers of the wine a call and see if they allow visits?
It was from this point onwards that the impeccable experience began. A lovely lady named Olga politely accommodated our request, despite them not receiving tourists as a rule (they were then in the process of constructing a tourism centre). And even when, in the days before the visit, I tried to change the time and day of our appointment Olga was happy to rearrange their schedule so that they could give us their undivided attention.
And what attention! We’d shoe horned this visit onto the end of a day visiting bodegas in Lujan, around 17:30 (outside the usual visiting hours of other bodegas in Mendoza). We pulled up to the entrance and awaiting us were Olga, the owner, their daughter and Bernardo, one of the enologists at Casarena. What an arrival! We were introduced to everyone and quite casually began walking around the grounds. One of the things that struck me straight away was the location – it felt far more isolated and self-contained than most bodegas we’d visited on our trip. It might have been the low sun, but the vineyards and the bodega had a very peaceful and beautiful quality to. We felt as if we were the only people in Mendoza at that moment.
Bernardo and co from the off were very much interested in ourselves, our history and our reasons for visiting Lujan and for taking an interest in Casarena. On other winery visits you can feel a bit like part of a conveyer belt, even when there are no other visitors with you at the time! It was the complete opposite at Casarena. We felt like royalty almost! Early on in our conversations, the passion for wine waking at Casarena came to the fore, especially from Bernardo, a passion which was infectious. By the end of the visit I didn’t want to leave and could only try and dream up ways of finding myself there every day of the week! (still working on that one).
We were walked through the entire wine making process from start to finish, starting in the vineyards and sampling some of the cabernet grapes, then into the tank room where to my surprise Bernardo grabbed a large glass, rolled up his sleeve and plunged his arm through the grape skin “sombrero” to reveal a violet grape juice which he insisted we try. Amazing! In fact, we sampled the wine at the different stages of its elaboration, such as sampling straight from the tanks, the point being to give us a better idea of how the wine changes during its creation.
And we concluded our visit with a wine tasting (something which we had not anticipated on this particular visit). And then we bowled over by the fact that Olga had remembered our love of Ramanegra and low and behold every varietal of the classic and reserve lines of Ramanegra was laid out to sample. If we weren’t already blown away by this point then this left no doubt, especially sitting next to the ever enthusiastic Bernardo talking me through each of his own wines! Very special indeed. By the end we were all just happily chatting away about all sorts really – travelling, politics, sports - everything! We really could have spent all day there, we didn’t want to leave.
But leave we did unfortunately, but no way will the experience ever leave us. For us now, when we think of wines and Mendoza, we think of Bernardo and the passion which runs from the core to the surface of Casarena.
So in summary, I cannot recommend the place enough! Once their tourism arm is up and running (if it isn’t already) I am sure they will soon become the MUST SEE in Lujan de Cuyo. All in all, we felt like our experience at Casarena was the kind we’d always hoped we’d find in Mendoza but suspected would never materialize. We are so thankful for the graciousness and time afforded us by Bernardo and the team at Casarena. We will be sure to pop by again the next time we are in Mendoza.

I just did a full week of wine tasting in NAPA Valley to pick wines for a friends' cellar. Coming to Mendoza after NAPA exceeded my expectations... specially in Casarena Vineyard!!! Not only I had an impeccably prepared pairing by an excellent gourmet chef, but quality of the Wine was outstanding! Looking forward to going back!

Wow, what a visit. Four of us went for the eight course chef's menu and what an experience it was. We were guided by our wonderful and knowledgeable waitress Andrea. Every course was paired with a perfect wine and built on the previous one. This fantastic experience took three glorious hours. We thought the price was entirely reasonable. Yes we would definitely go back.

The tour was organized as part of a 4-winery visit from the Gorilla hostel. The winetasting ranking at the end of the tour was educational and enjoyable.

Casarena was amazing! We had a private winery tour. It was excellent. We ended up having the entire winery to ourselves which was amazing! The views are excellent, as is the wine! Our host, Marina, was knowledgeable, friendly and great! At the end of the tour, (planned with the winery, but unbeknownst to me) my boyfriend proposed! They were so helpful to him with the whole thing and I never saw it coming. They had flower petals scattered and an arrangement set out. After the proposal, they took tons of pictures for us (even pointing out the best spots) and gave us some champagne. I cannot imagine a better way to get engaged! They were wonderful! We are excited to come back for years to come to celebrate!

We stopped at Casarena as part of a wine tour we were on. This was the last stop for us and an excellent ending to a fabulous day. We were introduced to their line of wines and was pleased to find out that some of their wines was actually available in Canada. We were then taken upstairs to a room with a breathtaking view of the vineyards, where we sampled a flight of very delicious wines, with one white and the remaining red. Afterwards we had a bit of fun with a game of trying to identify different aroma notes that are present in different kinds of wine. Everyone had a great time. The winery is beautiful and is one I would definitely go back to to experience more of what they have to offer. We also loved their motto for the day.... Wine is like duct tape, it fixes everything
