About
Bodega Benegas embodies Mendoza’s passion for history and tradition. The building is an historical landmark of Mendoza, built in 1901 by Agustin Álvarez, former Governor of Mendoza. Federico Benegas Lynch bought it in 1999, and made a 5 years restoration, keeping its original design, including the adobe walls and concrete pools, and adding state -of-the-art technology. Surrounded by vineyards, and located in a privileged area of Mendoza, the winery preserves tradition and expresses the Benegas Family’s passion for excellence in wines. Visits to the winery including wine tasting are available. Booking in advance is recommended.

- GlobalGirlieScottsdale, Arizona185 contributionsGreat winery to visit!Claudio is so funny! He really knows his stuff. And I like his worldly travel experiences and stories! He really took the time to explain everything and then with the wine tasting it was like a whole production with him. Which was adorable. He really loves the wine and teaches you how to like savor it and take your time and really appreciate it. The winery is really cute. I really enjoyed going into the basement and seeing all those barrels! And the little rooms are so adorable, where they store the wine. His English is pretty good and I can tell he speaks many different languages. His stories are great and he really makes you feel welcome at the winery! I really only wanted to drink white so they opened a Chardonnay and a rose for me. Both of them were very good! I tried some of the reds but I really didn't care for any of them. But I'm not a red drinker so...Thanks for writing these words! We love that each person who visits our winery has a great experience. - Starr S1 contributionBodega tour and wine tastingWe just happened upon Bodega Benegas because we were staying down the street but we are so glad we called to book at tour. Our guide Juliana gave a great history and overview of the Bodega family and the facility. The tour was small and personalized with just one other couple and we wandered through the refurbished old winery, ending with a tasting in the cellar in a tastefully decorated old wine vat. We loved the collection of ponchos hanging like tapestries around the bodega. Juliana was knowledgeable and very friendly. What a great experience!Thank you very much for your comment and for choosing us! It makes us very happy to know that you enjoyed your visit. We hope to have you / have them back. - peter SSnowmass Village, Colorado6 contributionsWell worth a visitWe visited Bodega Benegas in early December. Probably the best wine tour I've experienced. Franco was our guide; although new to the winery, he has been in the business for a long time. His narration of the story behind the winery, one of the first in the Mendoza region, was excellent and gave a full picture of the challenges overcome to build and maintain a successful winery in a desert region. The tasting experience, in the beautiful cellars, was expertly guided, and the wines, though a bit pricey, were very good. Don't miss a peek into the owner's "living/dining room"(he still lives on the premises). Well worth investing a half a day.Hi! A must!!!Visiting Benegas Winery ... it is right on the road, so to speak, compared to others where the winery is tucked away far off the main road, surrounded by vineyards. This winery is on the main road. First impressions just from the looks can be very deceiving. A relatively very small winery, producing 300K bottles. They make quality, premium wines the old-fashioned way. And boy, are they excellent!!! The guide was excellent, with a excellent command of English, the winery, and on the wine making process. Was blown away by the wines!!!Thank you very much for your comment and for choosing us! It makes us very happy to know that you enjoyed your visit. We hope to have you back. Claudio was incredibly knowledgeable about wine and wine making, but most importantly passionated! His stories were extremely entertaining and we all left satisfied. An old family winery, full of many interesting stories and beautiful wines. We were very fortunate that our sommelier and guide, Javier Caruso (#sommeliermendoza) arranged a private tasting in such an incredible place. Two sofas, one long table and a grill could easily host dozens. If visitors were chilly, they were invited to wear one of the many ponchos on display. They also have a great collection of antique winemaking equipment.

Benegas is a beautiful vineyard, with friendly people and gorgeous views. I visited the cellar and witnessed the wine-making process entirely. And also an excellent wine tasting. I fell in love with the Cabernet Franc Rosé (named Carmela after one of Federico Benegas´ daughter) and with the Sangiovese. Benegas holds a long familiar tradition in Mendoza and you can feel it. The wine stakes have more than 120 years and were bought in France by Benegas´ great grandfather.

Excellent wine, beautiful building, and you are surrounded by history. The founder of Benegas started Trapiche winery, too.
The wine is amazing and incredibly priced. 2008 Cab Franc or 2009 Bordeaux blend are 45 USD. Unbelievable. They also offer reasonable shipping back to the USA.

Does anyone have a good contact e-mail or number for Bodega Benegas? The website does not seem to be working and I'm having a hard time finding a way to set up a tasting appointment. Thanks, Alli
