Etna, Wine and Alcantara Tour - Small Groups from Taormina

198 reviews
Discover Mt. Etna without a strenuous hike to the summit, and check out a lava cave and the Alcantara Gorge, too. This day trip from Taormina showcases the history-rich foothills and woodland around Europe's largest active volcano, forgoing the need to scale any steep hills. A traditional Sicilian lunch with wine from the volcanic region is also included.

We considered first going to the main Syracuse beach which is Spiaggia Fontane Bianche. But the last one is really a touristic beach with rows and rows of beach beds, usually crowded, missing the charm of Sicily as we were hoping for it. So following my wife advice we went rather to this one which was all (almost) we expected. Why almost ? Because as it was on a weekend it was also rather crowded. However the sea was of the deepest blue and it was what we hoped for. The parking is rather expensive unless you arrive after 2pm and then instead of 20-25euros it is only 7.5 which is fair. The other reviews' advice of parking on a nearby path couldn't be applied since this alternative was totally full and also somehow so packed that even a little be dangerous for your car and your wallet (unless you have the full/total/real total insurance waiver). I have attached many pics to let you have the feeling of this wonderful beach.

Our Sicilian friend recommended to visit this beach. I think it was one of the best beaches in Sicily. It did remind me of Caribbean beaches a little bit. The soft sand and the azure water were very pleasant 🧜🏻‍♀️ Practical tips: * There are no beach bars, cafes or restaurants there. Only a small shop selling sandwiches, beer, other soft drinks. * Parking will cost you 20 euro during the weekend, 15 during a work week. You can also park on the road, outside of the beach for free. *There are showers and toilets on the beach. The water is very cold, so be prepared for some serieus refreshment 😂 (You cannot use the soap, nature preservation) *Next to the beach, there is Agriturismo which you can visit for a dinner (only if reserved in advance).

This was one of the best beaches in Sicily. It’s in nature, surrounded by trees , there’s a small canteen and showers. There are also lots of trees for shade . You don’t have to pay the 20€ parking fee because you can park in the little alley nearby.

Access is €20 for the day and €10 if you arrive at 2 o’clock. You get a bin liner at the price to guarantee that you help to keep it litter free. Ample parking in the shade. Bring your own sunshades, food and drinks. Very fine white sand. Excellent fresh-water showers to help to get rid of sand and salt before you drive off back home. Avoid weekends (tends to get rather overcrowded).

We went to Sardinia last year so the bar had been set high for our expectations of a good beach. Pleased to say this lovely place delivered. Things you may want to know...The water is very clean and shallow so great for young children. There are small trees and bushes backing on to the sand so some natural shade but our pop up tents delivered again in keeping the sun off us when needed. Weekdays in July are much quieter than weekends. Pretty obvious I know but may help you plan. There is a car park backing on to the beach that is 15 Euro but on the other side of the approach road there is a dusty track that some enterprising person is charging 2 euros to park in. It's a hot 5 minute walk to the beach but it's good value and popular!! Be there before 10.30 I would say. Great day out. Beautiful clean beach.
