This Museum is very much worth a visit, we took our grandson and he was very interested in much of the items and after reading about some of the exhibits asked some very good questions. The exhibits are good and you either have to read or listen to the information. When we visited we were lucky enough to talk with one of the members of staff whom had plenty of knowledge about the exhibits and he was happy to take the time to pass on his knowledge and spend a good time with us discussing about the exhibits and his life in connection with the museum. Everything was great about the visit, can not find a fault with it at all. Loved it.

Modest but interesting little local museum, with good audio commentary. Worth an hour of your day, especially if you have an interest in the locality.

We spent a pleasant couple of hours in the museum which had a good mix of displays. The visit, though, was spoilt at the end by a volunteer member of staff who saw fit to bring out a tea towel which I think was for sale and had stupid sexist words on it (about why a boat is referred to as 'she') - not suitable for the 21st century. I told him I found it offensive, he just said he thought it was funny. He also recounted that he found it funny when he showed it previously to a couple and it sparked some discord between them. This is not the way to behave towards paying visitors who do not visit to amuse misogynistic old men. It's a shame as it was otherwise worth visiting the museum.

I am really sorry you found the tea towel offensive. Many of our present day sayings come from maritime activities and this is written in that vein. I am also sorry the response of the volunteer on that day upset you. This is not a misogynistic organization by any means and we generally take the ''old'' references with a pinch of salt. I spent several years working at sea on a tall ship where most of the crew were men. However, because of changing times, we had two female captains which gives the lie to some of what is printed on the tea towel! It is intended to be tongue in cheek.
