We visited twice during our stay in Morar. Beautiful white sands and clear waters, at low tide you can walk right out into the water for what feels like miles and the water is only knee/thigh deep. Lots to explore and great for kids. Just feel disappointed in the lack of investment in the area as it is a haven for campers who do not contribute anything to the local economy but spoil the beauty of the area with rubbish, fires, bbqs etc. Would happily pay an entry fee and pay for parking to visit such a beautiful place and that money could be reinvested in the upkeep and preservation of the area, but instead you have campers as far as the eye can see who contribute nothing to the local economy. The Scottish government should do more to preserve these rare beauty spots and encourage more affluent tourists to frequent the area and spend money in the local shops, restaurants etc.

Came over Easter weekend, didn't see too many people there even so.
At the higher end of the tide it is a beautiful place, with white sands.
A mark off because the fact the water disappears at low tide leaving a mud flat made things tricky when high tides were early and late in the day (both around 7 o'clock), meaning for most of the day it wasn't so pretty. So the windows when it was were relatively short, and given the weather is very changeable we didn't really see it at its best over even 3 days in Morar as you need to have the tide in and good weather at the same time!
That wouldn't be such a thing if when you visit high tide is in the middle of the day, as then you'll get a good few hours of the water being in the vicinity of the beach.
Some informal rope swings have been put up that the kids enjoyed, and I liked the variety of bays.

Parked near silver sands which was a fantastic stretch of beach when the tide was out. Limited free parking but this kept the beach quiet. We then went on to Beautiful Beach (according to google) however we felt this wasnt so nice as it was opposite a golf course, lots of campervans parked up and smelt of seaweed. Beach was also not so nice. I would recommend silver sands, also public toilet that was actually open in the carpark

Don’t come here unless you are prepared to clear all your own rubbish, have somewhere where you can defacate without using the beach or woodlands, can park in a designated space and not block the road, respect the environment and the local culture. Do not have beach fires, disposable bbq , cut down trees for wood.
Please leave only footprints and if you want to camp book into a local campsite and contribute to the local economy.
Too many freeloading, disrespectful and general so called wild campers are destroying the natural beauty and delicate enviroment, so please stay away unless you can leave it as you should find it...,...peaceful and natural

To be fair we weren't camping but called to see if it was still a friendly welcoming site we remember from years ago with intentions of camping there again. In short, no. I won't say welcomed, more like begrudgingly met by a "couldn't care less" man who informed us they weren't taking campers due to pandemic (fair enough although site half empty) and was doubtful next year unless we had hook up??? Our autistic granddaughter badly needed the loo but he wouldn't allow her to use one. He said he'd have to clean it after...I'd have cleaned it myself if he'd allowed her to use it. Asked about fees for next year if camping was allowed and we got a shrug and " I dont know, the other half decides the prices not me..I just cut the grass"! No offer to find out or invite to go and see the other half. Never felt so unwelcome and I'm sure Alistair would be mortified if he was still alive. Will not be going back.

This was one of the highlights of a recent Scottish Highlands roadtrip. Slightly off the beaten track, there is a small car park with (free) toilets, and a short walk down to the beach. A warm-ish weekday in October, the beach was almost empty. Spotless, bright sand, turquoise water, this was a perfect stop for short stroll and a rest. If there weren't so many other things to see in the area, we could easily have stayed all day. If you want some refreshments, there are none here, but I'd recommend a short 10 minute drive to Arisaig for a coffee with a view.

Morar beach and others nearby are beautiful and until recently have been unspoilt. Unfotunately there are too many idiots around who seem to think that the signs asking everyone not to have campfires don't apply to them. I counted 6 abandoned firepits, complete with litter. If you're going to go to a place because it's beautiful, take your litter away with you and keep it beautiful.

What a brilliant find this beach was. Given the time of year and the weather, Amidst storms at the end of Feb 2020, I was lucky enough to have the beach to myself. The colour of the sand and the sea was just amazing, words really don't do it justice.

The beaches are beautiful with white sand and clear water. Just a bit of a shame that so many tents are allowed to park close together along the whole beach. I don’t begrudge wild camping in the slightest, but surely it could be a good balance I.e. wild tents allowed on some beaches, others free for day trips. A gentle balance.

I had seen so many great reviews about this beach so I drove 2 hours to get here and I was so disappointed. There were many wild campers there. It didn’t even resemble a beach to me if I’m honest. Hardly any water, water was very dirty, looks like oil in water, sea weed, worms which is obvious nature. Only positive was it’s the whitest sand I’ve seen in Scotland but I much preferred sea cliff beach at north Berwick or St. Andrews beach. I wouldn’t recommend.

Can someone please help me find a not so expensive means of getting back from Mallaig to Fort Williams around 2 pm from Mallaig? We are booked on Scotrail return, but don't want to wait 2.5 hrs at Mallaig for our return train. The group has 4 adults & 3 teenagers.

We were the only people on this beautiful beach at the time but there weren't any signs saying No Dogs so I'm sure they are welcome as others have previously said.

Hi, I realise it's a long time since you posted your review of Tougar beach, but I'm hoping you'll be able to help. After 19 years together we are finally tying the knot and having a Humanist ceremony on the beach. All sounds lovely, however the Registrar is looking for a more specific location for the Marriage Notice. We haven't actually been to the beach - is there anywhere that you remember, that might be a lovely spot for a (very small 'quick' wedding ceremony - 5 people). I appreciate it's a bit of a strange request, but any help would be hugely appreciated. We need to get the M10 form in tomorrow....eeeek!

Hi, I have visited this wonderful bay last month again and it is still wonderful. Me and my friends peg our tents on the sand next to Road B8008 just in front of Traigh Golf Course. You will find some parking bays just before the small bridge. Try this postcode in Sat Nav. PH39 4NT .

Hi. I was wondering if I could take my Land Rover Defender near the beach to sleep?
Written February 23, 2018
The car park is short distance from beach and has toilet facilities. Not sure if there are any restrictions on overnight parking. You can park on road but are asked not to to prevent damage. It is stunning so hope you enjoy.

Hi
This is very short notice! We go today
We are going on Jacobite train to mallaig and wandered if we could get a taxi to silver sands beach during to stop over. Having lunch in mallaig which would leave us just over an hour to see the beach. Don't know if there are any taxis in mallaig?
Thanks
