- Anne-Marie H6 contributionsMalt Master ExperienceMy husband and myself did the Malt Master Experience today at Glengoyne distillery and it was amazing. We had Devin as our guide and there was nothing he couldnt tell you about Whisky! Admittedly i wasn't a huge fan before going (it was hubby anniversary gift) but would definately do it again. Look forward to trying our homemeade Whisky when we get back to Lincolnshire! Thank you to everyone at the Distillery, everyone was so polite and friendly- great team!Hi Anne, thank you for your review. One of my favourite tours. Stunning setting and very informative tour. The tasting was fantastic value for money given the calibre of whiskeys available and serving size. The visit was in September 2020 and it was good to see COVID situation taken so seriously and risks well managed. Shop was nice too as was discount available from tour tickets

Made a quick call in on a journey from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Therefore we didn’t do a tour but just called in the shop, which was well stocked. Staff were helpful and happy to let you try before you buy. The single cask hand fill/bottle your own was nice, and I would always recommend buying what you can only get at the distillery, but £150 was far too much so we left empty handed.

Fantastic visit to the distillery with my nephew on the 6/1/22. We opted for the Collection Tour and Tasting which lasted approximately 90 minutes. The guide was incredibly knowledgable, providing a detailed history of the distillery, and in turn the distillation process from end to end. The tour ended at the house, with a tasting session including 3 drams and a chocolate to compliment each. Excellent value for money, providing a detailed insight into whisky production, and ending with an very enjoyable tasting session of the distilleries wares.

I had booked the online whisky tasting for my Husband and I as a surprise treat about 6 weeks ago and it was really good fun and very informative especially for a whisky “nube” like myself!
As soon as we had done it my Husband was non stop talking about a trip to Scotland to include the distillery tour,so we booked it and off we went!
It only cost £30 each and we got the full tour of the distillery that lasted approx 1 hour and was again very informative and interesting. Then after the tour it was on to the whisky and chocolate tasting in the beautiful house within the distillery grounds.
Everyone got 3 samples ….. the 10,18 and 21 with 3 stunning chocolates from the Scottish chocolatier Iain Burnett, mmmmmm.
Now I was the designated driver and thought it would be easy to sit there and watch and learn whilst my Husband enjoyed the full experience , but it wasn’t!
But luckily Glengoyne have it all sorted and you are able to take home your samples of both whisky and chocolate.
We genuinely do not know how they do this tour and experience for £30 as it it such good value, highly recommend.
A big shout out to our guide “Joe” who was brilliant , thank you.
The onsite shop is beautiful and a treasure trove of whisky goodies , some of which can only be purchased in store,ie the tea pot dram , you could (and we did ) spend a fortune!

Me and the Mrs visited here last week as part of our annual visit to Scotland. We have done many distillery visits over the years, so decided to do the Malt Master Experience. We were a little unsure how it would play out during these uncertain times with COVID restrictions in place. We need not have worried. Right from the start, we were made to feel very welcome by our host, Vivienne. Due to restrictions in place, it became more like a private visit as only me and the Mrs were doing the tour. Vivienne was quite simply an amazing guide, very knowledgeable and very funny. During this tour, we got to sit in the sample room and blend our own single malt, doing tastings of 5 different cask strength whisky along the way and learning the art of how to bring together different flavours that were individual to you. You then get to taste a dram of your final product before bottling a 20cl bottle that is unique to you, to take away. Of note the COVID safety measures in place for this were exemplary.
This is hands down the best distillery experience we have had anywhere. The distillery is beautiful and has that charming older distillery feel that I enjoy the most. The cost of £75 is worth every penny but for us, Vivienne made the trip for us. Can't wait to visit again in a couple of years to redo the experience and see how much our tastes have changed.
A must for any whisky enthusiast but beware, you end up leaving the shop with your pockets a little lighter 😂😂

First time visiting a distillery and booked on the 3 dram tour with hubby, he absolutely loved the whole experience. He appreciated the 12 and 18 year old but was very excited to try the special cask one at 58% proof and to be able to seal the little bottles and take them home was such a great idea.
With covid restrictions the tour was restricted but the guides were so knowledgeable and informative we didnt feel as though we had a lesser experience. If you are a whisky drinker it is well worth paying for the 3 dram rather than 2 as they give really generous measures and you can always take home the designated driver's share for later!!

We were wrapping up a 10 day tour of the Highlands in Glasgow and had not been able to visit any distilleries due to closures related to Covid-19. I booked a tour and tasting at Glengoyne for my husband and I when we saw they were reopening before we left Scotland. I called them after I booked because we had two children with us who I assumed could come along, but was not sure with the new rules and requirements. Children are not allowed to attend right now to keep the number of people down, but they called us back to inform us they had figured something out and we could come to our tasting with the children. When we arrived they took us to the house for a private tasting upstairs, just us and the children and our guide. It was a super special experience and very informative. Their whisky is outstanding as was everything about the visit (it is beautiful there, and everything is first class). We cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond to ensure we had a great final Scottish experience before we left. I highly recommend visiting this distillery.

Stopped by the shop to top-up our whiskey supplies. We have done the whiskey tour before and were especially impressed by the display they have showing how the whiskey colour changes over time.
The shop today was rather quiet (understandable given the restrictions) however the tall blonde staff member on hand this afternoon was incredible. She knew everything about all the whiskies in the shop to the point it felt like a tour in itself! She showed us the appropriate way to add water droplets to a dram and told us the story behind the teapot whiskey. A delightful experience and a very unexpected one, thank you so much to this staff member!!

The Glengoyne Story Tour.
This tour is a MUST for avid fans of all things Glengoyne.
My wife, mum and dad and myself spent the most interesting, humourous and informative afternoon on Friday last week, in the company of Gordon Dallas.
Having no idea what to expect, other than it was not a normal walk around the distillery, looking at the mash tuns, wash backs and the stills. This tour gave the history of the distillery and whisky making in general from the 1700's up to the present day.
This history surrounding the Distillery very interesting along with the anecdotes, ranging from royalty up to the second world War. Old photographs taken around the grounds were show, along with videos. There are other interesting items discussed, and even audience participation allowed us to interact within the tour, and made us feel part of the whole experience.
We even had access to other parts of the distillery not normally granted.
And then there was the sampling of several very fine whiskies, each one of them excellent.
The tour is excellent value for money, and the host, has carried out a great deal of research. His passion for the subject is evident from his delivery, enthusiasm and subject knowledge about the history
The tour is a bit unscripted so I guess each one will be slightly different to what we experienced, but if you get chance to do it, I can't recommend it enough.

After kindly extending my voucher period due to Covid (a retirement present) for the Malt Master Experience, the long awaited day of the tour of the Glengoyne Distillery finally arrived.
At reception I was introduced to my guide David, looking resplendent in his attire, with whom there was an instant rapport. As we toured the Distillery David gave his expert knowledge of every part of the process of making this very fine malt whiskey and answered every question that I may have had. On reaching the No1 Warehouse, a glass of whisky had been poured and was awaiting my consumption!!
The tasting and blending of the malts took place in the lounge of the house on the site and again David’s expertise guided me as I blended the various malts
into the 200ml bottle that I was to take home. I would also like to thank the team at Glengoyne for looking after my friend so well, whilst I was on the tour, it was very much appreciated.
I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this Distillery were you're sure to find a warm welcome and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Hi
How long is the detour to get to the distillery from the West Highland Way?
Written September 16, 2022
Not sure where the first place is sorry but google maps says 1hour. Well worth the trip if you can.
Written January 20, 2023
Very close. Over the road (in the lowlands) and distillery is in the highlands (road is the divide).
Plenty of staff to advise but no more than 1 minute walk.

Is it possible to visit and walk around the grounds (outside) without booking a tour/tasting?

Daft question, but is the bus stop literally just across the road from the entrance? I say that because we are booked on a tour and the bus only arrives 5 mins before the tour starts. I trust this is something that the distillery are used to and accommodate incase the bus is late?
Thanks!

Hi. I did not see anything of that nature when we visited. Also someone mentions a store across the street. We live locally and I am unaware of any stores in the vicinity. Sorry.
