    “Fakeaway” cookery day
Attended a “Fakeaway” cookery class yesterday. Absolutely brilliant day, Sarah was an excellent tutor, and led us through the creation of several dishes in a very knowledgeable way. As a reasonably competent cook, I cook every day, and with the prospect of a 2 hour travel each way to get there I was not expecting to enjoy the day as much as I did. I can highly recommend it whether you have any prior cooking skills or not.

The Cooking Academy. Indian cookery class
Amazing Experience. Educational, informative and really really good food. Chef Kumud was very engaging and taught us a lot in a fairy short space of time! The group was small and everyone in the academy were very pleasant indeed. I would highly recommend this course if you enjoy good Indian cuisine and learning new skills in a relaxed environment.

5 out of 5 excellent day, I will go back.
Such a great day, so I formative educational to de mystify some of the concepts to a beginner like. Great team and other students were great. Was fun along the way also. I purchased pack 6 at the end of the day, but now I ha e to go back and do another session as I forgot to get it signed 😅. I will go back , and my wife who is a veggie .I can not speak highly enough about the information share, so cool. A lot to take in for a beginner, but the key point is, I am now confident to reproduce all the meals we actually made today. We will be back. Please add korma to the next version of the book :)

    A brilliant team building activity
We used the cooking Academy for a team building session in London and it was just brilliant. The cookery challenge had almost 40 of us making multiple Spanish dishes in a competition against the clock. We concluded with a great team meal. It was brilliantly organised and executed from start to finish! Even the most sceptical members of my team had a wonderful time.

A wonderful day of Indian Cooking
I've been on several cookery courses and believe this was the best so far. After a discussion about the best spices to buy and how to keep them, we cooked three lovely dishes; two with marinades and one with a sauce. We also made a tasty Raita. Kumud Gandhi, the tutor, demonstrated two other dishes. Kumud created a wonderful friendly atmosphere in the room and all the eight attendees had a wonderful day. Don't miss this course if you want to prepare authentic indian dishes!

    Amazing middle east cooking classs
Had an amazing time cooking tagine, pilaf, baklava and kibbeh. Our host Sarah was wonderful, extremely knowledgeable and besides guiding us expertly along, was able to answer any question, directly related to the cooking, ingredients or methods as well as the more quaint side questions. Would highly recommend this if you like spending a day in the kitchen with a small group learning lots about the middle east cuisine.

    Marvellous Middle Eastern Cookery Class
We came along for the Middle Eastern cookery class and we learnt how to make a delicious tagine, kibbeh, vegetable pilaf, and baklava. Sarah and Tanya were great, Sarah took us step by step through each recipe - telling us the tips and tricks for each. Whilst we were waiting for our tagine we had some amazing home made flatbreads plus for lunch there was also a really tasty couscous. The kitchen we cooked in is nice and spacious with great facilities. We had loads to take home for dinner and now looking to see what other classes we can do here as it was a brilliant day. Highly recommended.

    AWSOME world full of spices.
The tutor Kumud Gandhi went through the science and nutrition of the spices and ingredients. I found this to be invaluable and I feel very inspired to use my knowledge to not only enjoy the food I cook but to keep myself healthy and keep certain ailments at bay. I’ve learned how to get the best out of cooking and how to achieve best results. The course was extremely informative and much fun. I really enjoyed cooking and when we got to eat what we cooked, I couldn’t believe I actually cooked that food. I will use what I learnt to enrich all my food now and not only the Indian cooking. I came away from the course feeling I’ve accomplished what I wanted and more and I have no doubt I’ll be giving food the respect it deserves. The course brought home to me what a wonderful world we live in with all these wonderful spices. I shall endeavour to cook every meal with the world of spices in mind. My one regret is that I haven’t done this earlier in life.

I did the One day Indian cuisine class yesterday, and I can honestly say it was one of the best culinary experiences I have had!. Kumud was an excellent teacher and her passion for every detail of the cooking experience was clear throughout the day. In the morning session she covered spices, the history, chemical properties and the importance of each one in the stages of cooking. Fascinating and illuminating!
We all then prepared our lunches based on this knowledge and the excellent recipes Kumud has created, all monitored by herself with patience and great advice.
After lunch, accompanied by a glass of wine, we continued to cook several more excellent dishes using our newly acquired skills. Most of us took these home for the evening family meal.
There was time at the end to purchase any of the ingredients and equipment used, including a signed copy of the excellent book Kumud has written containing all of her recipes and the detail and story of the spices. My family were very impressed with my new culinary skills and home-cooked Indian food will now become a regular on our weekly menu and replace the "takeaway" option.
I cannot do these classes enough justice here, so I recommend you book one soon and start making wonderful food yourself. I am certainly looking forward to my next one which I think will be, as Kumud put it, "an indian cookathon" in the aptly named "Mogul Emperor's feast"...

Thank you so much, very kind words indeed, and I'm glad that you got so much out of the day! Making your own authentic Indian cuisine is a real revelation and the flavours have so much depth. I'm sure your family will be thrilled with your new-found skills and I hope you will join me for another Indian class soon and really take it up a notch. Good luck and enjoy!

I am not one to write reviews normally but I was so impressed with my half day Indian cooking class that I felt I had to recommend it to others.
My husband had bought this for me as a Christmas gift for the both of us to attend. I was really looking forward to the class as I had read the previous reviews and understood this to be a well organised and informative class. Even knowing this the class far exceeded my expectations. Kumud was incredibly knowledgable about spices in both culinary and medicinal uses and took the time to explain this to us. As a pescatarian Kumud was able to tailor the day for me and one other vegetarian on the course so that we could cook alternatives. I made the most delicious spiced salmon and a chickpea curry and we were shown how to make Bombay potatoes. However I came away with not only a fabulous lunch but with a knowledge of how best to use the spices in other dishes and some fabulous cooking tips which I have already incorporated in my cooking of other dishes. My husband as a novice cook also really enjoyed the day and has promised to cook some of the dishes again! A great day - thank you Kumud.

Kumud was our teacher for the one day Indian class. She was excellent. We had a lesson in spices, cooked with some spice blends and had lunch, and took our dinner home. I’ve come away with new knowledge and passion for Indian cookery and in reach of my lockdown goal of crating an authentic Indian dish in our everyday mix of family weekday meals!!

I have enjoyed a wonderful half day Indian cookery class today with 'The Cooking Academy', which I would highly recommend.

I was welcomed into a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and Kumud has reignited my interest in cooking through her extensive knowledge and passion for food science and Indian cooking. We created some delicious dishes including black pepper fish masala, Masala Chicken and bombay potatoes. I have bought her book 'A cupboard full of Spices' and look forward to experimenting with other dishes.

I just attended the half day Indian cooking course. This was an amazing introduction to Indian cooking - I thought Kumud had fantastic with her extensive knowledge of spices and then the theory we covered in the class has set me up to cook many more dishes. I also purchased a copy of Kumud’s book and some spices. I will try these out and will definitely return to do the advanced cooking course once I’ve had a chance to practice!

This is the third one day course I have attended at the Cooking Academy. Again I was very impressed with the whole package. Upon arrival you are immediately put at ease , welcoming drink and introductions and then slowly introduced to the cooking by way of understanding the foods we cook , nutritious value etc. This day is for everyone , experienced cooks to the hobby cook . You are led , stage by stage until you have produced an excellent array of dishes, that any host would be proud to present at a diner party. Can't thank you enough, excellent all round day that is fun, informative and well worth the money.. Very Very well done to all the team

I attended their first ever Chinese cooking day, undertaken during covid, talk about brave.

I met interesting people, all of whom had an interest in cooking and wanting to learn about Chinese cooking.

The instructor was excellent, the pre-prepared ingredients were perfect. The instruction were clear, concise and very well tested.

Cooking the dishes was fun, eating them was better.

They handled my food allergies and need to use alternatives well, never making a fuss.

Another excellent visit.

Well, this has exceeded my expectations in every possible way!
Today I attended the one day Indian cookery class. Before today I had no real level of skill and wanted to understand a bit better how to work with spices when creating Indian food because up until now my attempts have been very hit and miss

I feel very fortunate to have had Kumud Gandhi as my tutor for the day. We cooked a range of wonderful dishes, chicken, salmon, vegetables and bhajis and each of the recipes was perfectly explained and demonstrated.

To me, even more importantly, there was real teaching here.We learned about how the spices contribute not just to the quality of the dish but to the impact of the dish on our nutrition

Kumud is a wonderful teacher and if you are unable to attend one of her classes, maybe have a look at her book “ A cupboard full of spices “ Which I have been excitedly reading through since I got home – I can’t decide what to try first, but I know that with the knowledge I have gained today, great food awaits!!!
