Beauty of Rare
Sep 2018 • Friends
This was a really inspiring exhibition of photos taken by Ceridwen Hughes on behalf of Same but Different. They are a non-profit organisation that uses art to give people with rare diseases and disabilities a stronger voice in their communities.
It was staged in Ruthin Goal and we were very moved by it.

Better than the British Museum

Well, not as big maybe, but better at giving a picture of life in a small Welsh town in years gone by. The castle on the hill is the town's main tourist attraction, and well worth a visit, but this unassuming museum tells you about less hectic aspects of life and work - The old "Asylum",the railway station, the printing press and political activities of Thomas Gee,the town in World War 1,the prehistoric forts on the Clwydian Hills and the tragedy of Tom Pryce, the formula I racing driver, killed when so close to triumph.
Both locals and visitors will find something here to interest them.
There is plenty of parking round the back of the building but the access is via steep steps and I would advise older or infirm visitors to use the front entrance.

We had a bit of time on our hands and I didn’t want to go but I was persuaded, and wow am I glad we did , please take time to talk to Sparrow Harrison the guy who runs it he’s amazing with what he’ll tell you ,but then there’s lots he doesn’t tell you because he’s so modest, he encourages you to look at things take pictures , and touch which is unheard of in so many stuffy museums , you don’t have to remember the 50,s to enjoy this place, there is a mock up living room, kitchen , old cars , it’s well worth a fiver of anyone’s money
