Second time back to a lovely pub with friends, views of the valley, beer served from a jug and friendly locals. Did not see the place after the fire, but can assure that the renovation has not spoilt the character. Definitely worth a visit to...More

To find "Bessie's" you must search for Dyffryn Arms in your map. Its a superb little roadside pub set in the parlour of an old farmhouse. Full of local character and charm and a draw from many miles around

The levels of hygiene in this place leave a lot to be desired. The locals are fickle, if you are not English you will probably be fine. To the reviewer below who wrote 'unfortunately her much loved dog died in the fire'. According to a...More

Just a quick update. Pleased to say this gem is open again. Had a drink there on Friday. Bar restored. Bessie not back in residence as work on the living quarters still ongoing.

If in area this a must. You may not be there with a Welsh Male voice choir singing to you but the beer is good. Hope you like beer because that's all that is on offer.

Sadly 'Bessies' ( the Dyffryn Arms) has been significantly damaged in a fire and it is not known when it will reopen for business. Bessie herself is OK and is living with family, unfortunately her much loved dog died in the fire. Though not a...More

It's proper name is The Dyffryn Arms. the good pub guide lists it as Pontfaen, Fishguard, Cwm Gwaun, Wales, SA65 9SE - different post code to the last contributor. but ask anyone - its a local institution
