Well Worth The Walk
Jul 2018 • Couples
I’ll be honest, it’s a bit of a walk to get to the monument. But it’s worth it.

The monument is simplistic but worth the walk to pay your respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

If you go on a clear day, the views are stunning. If you are a walker then please give your time to visit the monument. You won’t be disappointed.

Lucky with the weather, really spectacular views, not too accessible but definately worth the effort

Well worth checking out the castle first, then attempt the extra hike up to the war memorial. Photos can’t really do the view justice but I’ll try to upload some.

Stunning views of the surounding hills and valleys to be had if you get here early morning in good weather. Plenty of cardio vascular effort needed to get up here though

I can see for miles and miles and mile and miles.

Sitting on top of the Hill above the delightful, tiny town of Montgomery, the Montgomeryshire County War Memorial is one of the best places to view the glorious and unspoilt landscape of The Welsh Marches. It is a stiff walk from the Montgomery Castle car park up to the top of Town Hill, and you will need descent footwear and perhaps a rain coat. Take a map, a camera and perhaps some binoculars.

Beautiful

There's obviously some thought gone in to the war memorial at Montgomery. Although it records the names of the fallen, the design is superb, and the setting quite wonderful, a real tribute.

Spectacular panorama from here

You will need hiking boots at this time of year as the track to it is very muddy and steep in places but the effort is well worth it on a clear day. Superb views all round, take binoculars to enjoy even more.
