- FiftyFifty5050Montgomery, United Kingdom850 contributionsA Pit StopWe haven't visited Meirion Mill in years, the last time we were here the cafe was located in the house by the entrance; now it is at the back, after a walk through the shop. Not sure if the mill is still in action, but they did stock some beautiful Welsh tweed blankets and rugs, love spoons, quality leather goods and all the usual souvenirs, housewares etc. Th cafe was quiet, indoor seating and sofas plus outdoor seating in an enclosed area at the rear, with picnic benches. There are simple lunches for sale - baked potatoes, sandwiches etc; coffee and other hot drinks and a range of cakes. We each had coffee and cake; despite being individually wrapped in cling film (presumably to comply with covid restrictions), we found the cakes a little dry. A good alternative to a fast food outlet when on a long journey (not that fast food outlets abound in rural Wales!)Visited July 2021Written July 30, 2021
- Seaside707857112 contributionsInteresting but mainly a shop.I thought this would be more of a operational mill/museum it wasn't. That said it was a nice shop with a coffee shop too. Worth a visit if you are looking for a shopping experience.Visited February 2018Traveled with friendsWritten February 27, 2018
- Angela WLlanbrynmair, United Kingdom50 contributionsSomewhere DifferentSadly fabric isn't woven here anymore, and the café isn't atmospheric as the old station house was, but the cake was very good (almond and praline), the staff friendly, and Welsh speaking, and a vast range of gifts, outdoor clothing, and more unusual cards for sale. My rating is between average and very good. There are books for sale on the local area, and about the old railway. It makes a good stop off point for refreshments if walking or sight seeing in the area. Good for railway buffs too, as it is on the site of the old station and presumably where the slate was loaded to transport down to the coast for shipment. There is a small playground where children can "let off steam" if they've been in the car for too long!Visited April 2017Traveled as a coupleWritten May 23, 2017

Dreadful - avoid at all costs. We went on 24th Feb 2022.
The cafe staff were lazy and rude. It was far too much effort to get us food 15 minutes before closing, having done the scared elderly couple in the corner a "favour" by getting them some food ten minutes earlier. There were four other people in there who had clearly been favoured by such kindness.
It really stunned me to the point of wondering if I'd turned up after closing time and asked for a free meal, instead of a polite, paying customer. We were quite willing to be flexible and were grudgingly offered a slice of carrot cake.
We drove two hours to visit this place and left within five minutes. Not surprised the place was deserted, should be closed down.

I have been visiting this cafe for over thirty years, especially when it was in the old station building. The lure was the cheese scones, I always said they were the best in Wales, but no longer.
The ladies running the place were non smiling and really didn't seem to want to serve us almost to the point of being rude.
The shop is still lovely to visit

We are staying in the cottage across the road and so glad we didnt make a car drive here. All week we had been saying we would go see the Mill. Umm big NO NO. The Brown Tourist sign outside is totaly misleading and should be removed. Visitor beware. This is NOT a mill at all. Its a coffee shop and gift shop only. Yes they sell wool but guess what its not even there own. Its King Cole wool you can buy on any high street.
So glad we only walked 50yards to get there.
In and out in 10minutes.

Lovely little shop and cafe. Just if the main a470 road, in a picturesque location and lots of car park space.
Friendly staff, very reasonable prices. A range of welsh gifts to suit all budgets.
Food was nice, and again well priced.
Would visit again.

Not a mill, nothing to see. Shop sells typical tourist stuff, woollens from elsewhere. Cafe is dated and not special. Soup ok. Shouldn't be signed as a mill.

Visited here whilst out and about with friends. A lovely little place however choice has dwindled over the past few visits and variety of items is somewhat sparse.
Would love to see this place buzzing as it once was

A good place to stop on your journey for a break.
Visitors are welcome to use the toilets unlike the Welshpool and llanfair railway further along which requires a "donation" to use the toilets
