We spent two days at the park taking advantage of the very convenient motorhome parking just a 10 minute walk away.
The standard of shows was outstanding - water, fire and stunts galore - so much going on it was often difficult to follow all the action. We particularly enjoyed the bird show but the scale of each one made it difficult to actually identify a favourite as such.
I would recommend downloading the app - it makes it much easier to plan which show to go to next and plans your route for you to boot. Lots of picnic areas and benches but also food outlets selling reasonably ( for a theme park) priced simple baguettes and panini etc.

We did this theme park yesterday (Monday). It took about 10 -15 minutes to enter at 11am to the 'Sanitaire Pass' checks and bag checks etc which were very efficient. It was a quick and easy 5-10 minute walk from the car parks to the entrance.

We were disappointed that many of the shows required you to wait in a crowd/queue to get in (at least 30 minutes beforehand) to secure a place inside. We missed two shows because we just got to the entrance as it closed even though we were there 20 minutes before they started. The app was frequently wrong saying that you could access the show when actually it was full. This was not only incredibly frustrating but made the whole experience (for us) rather stressed and rushed as we were only there for the one day. There were clearly other people in the same position as many people were running from one show to another. The shows themselves were spectacular and we especially enjoyed the immersive shows even though they were so crowded inside. We would return for this reason but on a day a the end of the school holidays and not in the middle of August.

We would have also booked an 'Emotion pass' but there didn't seem to be any available for several weeks in advance when we booked so this is perhaps something to be aware of if you dislike queueing for a long time or are Covid anxious in a crowd. We would also have purchased some good earphones for the translater app as it is hard to hear over the volume of the show, although mine kept signing out of the onsite WIFI anyway so didn't really work on my phone.

There were plenty of toilets and food outlets (mainly selling sandwiches). Toilets generally had a queue for them though and were looking pretty grim by the end of the day. Overall, this is a great theme park, but not in August and only if they limited tickets as it was just too crowded! When are they going to build one in the UK?

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to share your review on TripAdvisor. It is true that during summer holidays, Puy du Fou welcomes a larger public than usual. Nevertheless, our teams adapt our programs on a daily basis according to the number of visitors expected. We advise our visitors to spend at least 2 days at Puy du Fou to discover all our shows and restored villages. We also advise our visitors to organize their visit thanks to our shows’ timetable given at the entrance of the park or available on our website the day before the visit (from 5:30pm). We have taken note of your comments and will forward them to the relevant team. We are very careful about our visitors’ opinions as they help us to improve our services. Many projects are coming for Puy du Fou We wish you a wonderful day! The team of Puy du Fou

First came here in 2011 with younger children who are now teenagers. We had another spectacular day. We got there for opening time and made the most of the shows throughout the day. We managed to do nine of the attractions/shows. The only negative is the cost of bottled water.

We visited on Thursday 18th Aug, it was so horrendously busy, spend most of the day in ques hopeing to atchually get in to see sonething. It cost us over €160 for 2 adults and 2 children. If you wanted to see a show you had the get in the que nearly 90 mins before, which we had to do several times. Even queuing for that length of time you were not garentteed entry to the show as we got cut off and told it was full despite waiting for so long and wasting so much time. Very disappointing. We gave up using the "plan my day" feature on the app very early in the day as we would have not got to do anything.
The ques for food and the toilets were something else as was the amount of people pushing and barging through the ques.
We had a lovely man working at a food kiosk ask us how our day was while waiting for our food, he even said it was far buisier than normal and he was surprised so many people were in.
Don't think we'll be back. :(

Hi, We sincerely regret that your visit to Puy du Fou did not take place in the best conditions. During the summer season, we welcome a larger number of visitors. However, our teams make sure to adapt the number of performances accordingly. Puy du Fou proposes new creations every year to enrich our offer. We advise our visitors to plan at least 2 days of visit in order to discover all our shows and animations with serenity. Be assured that our teams do their very best to reduce waiting time before our shows. The continuous improvement of our offers and services being at the heart of our priorities, we will pass on your message to the concerned teams. Have a very nice day, The Team of Puy du Fou

Our family of four went to this full of expectation, having paid around €180 for the privilege. Having failed to gain entry to three shows, we finally got to see the knights of the round table after a long queue in the sun. The show itself was spectacular indeed but we simply couldn’t face queuing on an attempt to get into another as the average queue times appeared to be between 60 and 90 mins for the main attractions. Sadly therefore, a waste of a days holiday and a lot of money.

Having been twice before with the last time being 7 years ago we were incredibly disappointed this time. Far too many people allowed in to the park and so all you do is queue in a very disorganised way. Despite having downloaded the app and used the planning facility we couldn’t even get into our 3rd show even though we more than stuck to the timings. It feels as though once they have got your entry fee the rest doesn’t matter. I certainly wouldn’t bring young children as it is very stressful. We only saw 2 shows and de iced to give up on the day!! A very expensive queueing experience!! Shame on you Puy du Fou for being greedy and allowing too many people in.

Hi, We have read your message carefully and highly regret that your experience at Puy du Fou did not meet your expectations. Like many touristic sites, we receive a larger number of visitors during holidays. During these busy times, our teams make every effort to ensure that all our visitors can attend as many shows as possible. We also adapt the number of performances of each show accordingly. In order to enjoy Puy du Fou comfortably, we advise our visitors to plan at least 2 days of visit. This will allow them to discover all of our shows, our 4 period villages and our century-old forest. Please note that we pay great attention to our visitors' comments. Every day, Puy du Fou teams think about how to improve our offers and services. Your message will contribute to this. We wish you a very nice day, The Team of Puy du Fou

I wasn’t sure what to expect but everything about this theme park is excellent.

The big attraction is the shows - incredible experience from the outset and difficult to pick a favourite. The standard of the special effects and delivery cannot be faulted. As an adult I can’t recall being as excited on a day trip in my life.

The site is very clean and well managed throughout. Staff are pleasant and attentive. The food on site was an excellent quantity, service can be a bit slow around 1 pm.

Despite the crowds the programme runs smoothly.

We did the park in a day only because my friends are regular visitors and know the routine, but you would ideally need two days and go well prepared with hats, sun cream, rain coat etc .

I would highly recommend the site irrespective of age or group type - genuinely brilliant

Wild and wonderful! We visited not long after it opened for the 2020 season and it was very quiet so we were lucky. The measures in place for covid were very good, lots of sanitizers and social distancing rules in place. The app was brilliant, translations on there were very good and the ability to plan the day and routes was super helpful. We were lucky as we managed to watch every show. (With a lot of walking!) the shows themselves were technically mind blowing, go in with an open mind and take it for what it is, the performers were super skilled and all great to watch. The stages are amazing. Expect plenty of horses, birds and other animals, loved it! The noces du feu (night show) topped the day off perfectly, the right amount of fun chaos going on everywhere which summed up the day! We’re still trying to work out how they put it all together.
We took our own lunch which we could eat in queues and then got tasty well priced burgers for dinner. The food options are well varied and reasonably priced for a theme park.
The whole site was very clean and well kept, all staff seemed happy, welcoming and friendly.
Would definitely go back.

We were on a Eurocamp trip with kids aged 10 and 8 and booked two days here at the end of our week away (staying in a local b&b) based on the reviews given and I’m so glad we did. This place is unbelievable, there’s so much going on at every show and the walk through activities are just as good with real life actors in amongst everything that’s going on. Cannot do this place justice in photos. A history trip back in time with knights, sword fights, jousting battles, Viking attacks, musketeers, Excalibur, gladiators and chariots in the Roman amphitheatre, gun battles, war bunkers, navy ships, all done in shows or walk through experiences where you are fully in the place, interactive moving parts, animals, water, fire, sound, ground moving and live actors in every room fully in character. One of the best things we have ever done! You need two days as it’d be impossible to do everything in one, if you only have one day don’t miss any of the big shows (no’s 1-6 which you need to queue for 30 mins before if it’s busy) and don’t miss the war trench, navy ship or the castle. The main shows have set times so you can plan your order when you start the day. The only ones to possibly miss if you’re short of time is the fountains and music at the windows at the carousel. Every show is fantastic! You can listen to the shows in English using the app which is really easy to use and you can tick off what you’ve seen. Some shows you definitely need the English others it doesn’t matter you’re just immersed in everything that’s going on. We brought in food and drinks as its the usual theme park prices but had amazing ice cream in there. One of the days we got ready made baguette sandwiches from Artisan Boulengar Patesserie which is nearby and it’s amazing. We had dinner at Verrie Table and Civilisations, both lovely and also did the Cinescenie night show which was fantastic! Do not miss this place if you’re in the Vendee area, it’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced!

We’d heard that Puy de Fou was good and worth a visit from family and friends that had been before so we expected it to be good… we didn’t expect it to be absolutely incredible!! The atmosphere, the buildings and the shows all exceeded our expectations. We came for one day and used the app to plan our visit which worked very well and ensured we got to see the things we wanted to and missed out on a few things that we didn’t mind missing this time (more than one day is required to see everything). We started with the Viking show which was outstanding. The talent of the actors, the magic and stunts not to mention the animals were all very well orchestrated and well thought out. There are lots of amenities throughout the park including toilets, food outlets and even water misters you can stand under to cool off. We used the app to listen to simultaneous translation which worked very well for static shows where we sat still, but didn’t work as well for immersive walk through shows. Don’t get put off by the queues - they move quickly! Overall a fantastic day out and highly recommended!
