Awaydays. A little slice of joy.
Aug 2021
My dad, son and I visited here on Saturday before the Port Vale v Tranmere game. After walking up from Longport station it is at the top of the hill veering left, we got there after passing a few other places and arrived just as it opened. It is only a small place but very welcoming. We had a chat with the staff who were really friendly and happy to accommodate away supporters. We picked a table outside under a tent (this will be a godsend on rainy away days!) and ordered a few beers. There was a good selection of high quality ales, ciders and lager (for the ladies). very reasonably priced at around £3.30 a pint (for ale). It was served perfectly. There was even a BBQ with burgers and hotdogs from around £2.20. Do not be put off if it gets busy with home support, they were all sound and accommodated families so I doubt there is ever any bother there. Also when a long queue formed outside this is only due to the lack of indoor space, the bar staff rattled through it so you are not waiting long at all. The original plan was for our group to visit a few pubs in the area but we found this pub so good we decided to stay until we had to leave for kick off. It was only a 5-10 minute walk to the ground. We will be visiting again hopefully with a better outcome at the football!

Myself and friends regularly meet up at the Bursley. Our favourite real ales are always on the bar, served by attentive, friendly staff and mixed with a friendly atmosphere, culminating in a superb environment. Long may it continue

We had a lovely afternoon with my sister and little boy here. Good selection of craft ale, cosy fire, plenty of room and no nonsense. Will be back.

Pre Match Snifter

Small, friendly pub which is a little off the beaten path, albeit on the main road, just on the edge of Burslem. Usually offers 4 ever changing real ales, a couple of ciders & two or three lagers plus the usual bottles & spirits. The beer, in my experience, is well kept & competitively priced for the area.
No food but on match days there is a griddle out in the front yard (beer garden) where you can get a bacon or sausage bap, oatcake etc
Just a 5 minute walk to Vale Park if your a visiting fan.
