On our way home from a few days in The Dales we usually break up the journey with a stop at a favoured haunt enroute and Thorp Perrow automatically springs to mind after all the effort they've put into photography and updated reviews on facebook :-) In early May it's just stunning with a carpet of bluebells, early tree blossom... Beautiful place to walk around, the trails are marked for you on a map with the best of the season. The bluebells and lilac trees smelled gorgeous and there are loads of wild flowers as well as trees. An easy place to walk around, no steep paths and clearly marked paths. We were able to take our dog on a... More

With a lot of pleasure we have visited the arboratum. We were surprised about the lot of variations in trees. It was, if you were on an expedition and found a lot of new species. Because it was raining we had a private demonstration with birds of prey. Thx to the kind young lady and her collegue.

A lovely setting for a gentle woodland stroll. The birds of pray centre whilst informative when a display is in progress is pretty basic beyond that and the other animals kept on site are far from inspiring, so if this is the driver for your visit potentially look elsewhere. It's not particularly cheap unless you are a regular visitor but... More

We were so lucky to visit Thorp Perrow on a glorious day in May. We arrived just after it opened and didn't leave until just before closing time. It was a mid week day and because the grounds are so extensive it felt very peaceful. The planting is stunning and we enjoyed a tasty and very reasonably priced lunch while... More

This is a magical place, so beautiful and peaceful, and an all round treat for the senses. We visited in early May and the bluebells and cherry blossoms were blooming. We saw ducklings and baby meerkats - so sweet. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and our dogs loved their walk too. Highly recommended.

As long as the weather behaves (because this is a completely outdoors activity), this is a lovely place to visit whatever the time of year. We visited just as the bluebells were starting to appear, so everything was very pretty. The arboretum is great to explore, lots of 'hidden' gems to find. My sons love it as it's very safe... More

This is a really lovely place for a family day out - there's so much to discover or you can just enjoy each other's company in the beautiful arboretum. I can imagine the car park presents a bit of a challenge in wet weather (it's a field!). You have to pay to use both the café (excellent cakes, and they... More

Beautiful place with a lot to see and do. I went with my 2 year old son and he loved every minute. Plenty of space, things to look at and the animals were a great addition. Snacks / food were fairly priced but lots of benches and places to enjoy a picnic like we did.
